So tired of the lies!

I'm sick of buyers lying....after days of non-payment telling me BS tales of why they can't pay for a week or two.

How stupid do they think we are?

Isn't it funny how many times a buyer can't pay until a Thursday or Friday of the coming weeks...hmmmmm I wonder why???

Hooray for NEXT payyyyydayyyyyyy!!!

You have to wonder if some people have never heard of budgeting.

And then you watch any of those cable programs with Gayle Valdez (?) Til Debt Do Us Part et al.

You could try requiring that your bidders have an active Paypal account and then if you get one of those purchasers, letting them know that if they back the PP with a credit card, the problem will solve itself.

If you were selling at Fixed Price, you could further require Immediate Payment or the transaction will not complete. This does not work on auctions.

It isn't really a problem I'm looking for a solution for because those types will always exist.

I just think it's hilarious how pretty much they all can't pay until a Thursday or Friday.

Well Thursday is a traditional pay day, if buyers are paying from their bank account they may not have sufficient funds until their pay is deposited.

Would you prefer that the bank payment gets rejected and you have already shipped?

For a buyer to do an instant payment funded from their bank account they must have a credit card on file for back-up, nothing says it has to be a valid credit card so if the bank bounces the transfer and the back-up credit card doesn't work you the seller gets a payment reversal.

If you have Delivery Confirmation you would be covered and get your money eventually, if you have no d/c you are screwed unless the buyer is willing to pay again.

Except I'm not talking about people taking 3 or 5 days to pay I'm talking about buyers saying I can't pay for 2 or 3 weeks.

They could be on a really tight budget, maybe a student or someone making ends meet with minmum wage part-time work, unemployed or a next-to-nothing pension.  Times are tough for some - for many, actually.  Some people will not use credit out of principle.  I avoid it at all costs and pay sometimes with an E-cheque that takes over a week to cash, just to avoid using my credit card because I hate the banks.  There are many reasons so I wouldn't automatically just dismiss these buyers as losers.  Since you have mostly BIN, I would just require a PP acct and instant payment.  It's what I do unless someone emails me and asks for some special consideration and then I lift he instant pay for them, make the sale, and give them some time.  It's a pain but everyone has a different story and it really just comes down to how flexible you want to be in your business.

Wishing you happy sales!

I tend to agree with this approach, but eBay is encouraging acceleration of transactions with many of their new policies (as well as instituting faster, more automated resolution for non-payment).  The direction appears to be full speed ahead toward a highly regulated eCommerce environment - this eBay is not what it used to be.

This will soon make it much more difficult, if not impossible, for sellers to offer lenient terms (or alternate terms) to buyers if they wish.  Doing so will put sellers at risk of giving up their recourse for claim resolution if they permit payment delay beyond a certain point.

In fact, I think eventually eBay will become a pay-immediately site across the board.  Troubles with non-payers will diminish, but I believe the merchant/buyer relationship will change radically as a result.  I can see a day coming on eBay when sellers and buyers won't be able to communicate directly with each other at all...:|
