Still stuck with Vista

Ignore the above - don't know what happened.

Anyway I am still stuck with Microsoft Vista and am having some problems. Things seem to be in the wrong place and sometimes I can't get typing cause there is no place to start and web  pages keep telling me to update my browser. I have tried but I can't something to do with the driver in this machine will not let me.

I tried Firefox and was not all that happy - have to manually put in all the passwords cause I can't get Norton to work.

I suppose I should move on and get a new machine but this one is working fine - well except for the Vista thing.

Anyone else still hanging on?

Re: Still stuck with Vista

I am running Windows Vista with all the latest patches and updates. Is your Vista up to date?

The latest Internet Explorer for Vista is Internet Explorer 9 but I do not use this. I use FireFox latest version with this ebay id. I also am using Google Chrome for another eBay id. I also use Opera browser (not supported by ebay but works fine for me) for another account. I have all the browsers open with multiple tabs and am working fine.

Your post is not clear what is happening. I understand you are using Windows Vista and probably Internet Explorer 9 as your browser. I understand you tried FireFox as a workaround. I also think you are using Norton product as your computer anti-virus and Internet security software.

Can you confirm what you have for software? What is the Norton product you use?

I would suggest making sure Windows Vista is up to date by running Windows Update. You may be behind in updates and cause issues. My current version of Windows Vista is at Service Pack 2 and many updates since SP 2. Internet Explorer is Version 9.0.8112.16421.

I would suggest running Windows Disk Cleanup in Start menu -> Accessories -> System Tools to clean up old files on your computer.

Re: Still stuck with Vista

My sympathies for anyone still (or ever) using Vista, by far the worst version of Windows ever.

In any event, mainstream support for Vista ended in 2012, the only thing you can update now is security patches and in another 16 months even that will come to an end.

Beside the fact that little new software or hardware will work with Vista I don't understand why for the modest cost you would not upgrade to at least Win7 which actually works without many issues.

Oh and Norton, a fine company with an impressive product IF this was the 1980's!!!!!! IN 1990 Perter Norton sold out to Symantic and it's been downhill ever since.
