Store owners - have you recieved shipping supplies code?

According to an announcement on May 2, the branded shipping supplies coupon code for store owners would be sent out by May 31. Has anyone received one by email and/or message? I know that some sellers were able to access the coupon in the manage your store section but I haven't been able to do that and haven't yet received a coupon code.

The only thing here that I might find even vaguely useful is the tape. It sells for $69.18 with

Re: Store owners - have you recieved shipping supplies code?

U.S. $23.99 is approximately C$30 so we are paying about $40 for shipping.

It's ridiculous and actually it is a bit insulting. I realize that some of those packages are heavy and that international shipping is expensive but if they are going to offer us the coupon they should have someone in Canada ship the product with the cost more comparable to the one given to U.S. sellers.

No email or coupon here yet.

Same goes for the price of the poly envelopes.

Here is a Canadian eBay seller who ships fast, has a good quality product and very reasonable prices.

I don't know if they sell tape.

Re: Store owners - have you recieved shipping supplies code?

I wonder if he can explain how they plan to compete with Staples who sells a 36 pack of packaging tape which costs $45.00 and works out to 2 cents per meter, where eBay branded supplies cost 3 cents per meter with a coupon. Also, Staples is like 5 mins away for most folks so, instant product pick up.

I'm not using my coupon, it costs me to use it for things I never need. I recycle all packaging that is sent to me, so I almost never run out of supplies, provided to me for free from sellers I buy from.

Now that's a deal!

Re: Store owners - have you recieved shipping supplies code?

EBAY CANADA:

Open up the Canadian coupon so we can use it on the US site. I can ship the boxes to my PO box in the US and pick them up.

I want the 8x8x8 boxes. $16.42US  on the US site, $56.63US on the Canadian site. That is $40US in shipping. I can buy 25 boxes from the Canadian site with my coupon and it will still cost me $2, or 75 boxes from the US site with $5 left over.

It is the same seller. There should be no reason whatsoever that I cannot use the Canadian coupon to buy the US supplies. I can buy almost anything on Ebay from around the world and have it shipped to my US PO box, and pay using CAD funds. There should be no reason why I cannot use my CAD coupon to buy these supplies and have them shipped to my US box. It does not make any sense.

I know this will not help most Canadian sellers, but it will help some.

FIX THIS ISSUE.

No, it is not. The only explanation I see is that it includes the "free" shipping. 😞 *

* Yeah, I know that free shipping usually includes the shipping cost, but $40? Way overpriced!!

Re: Store owners - have you recieved shipping supplies code?

While it's true that a 12-pk of tape is heavy, I don't think it's an-extra-$40-to-ship heavy.

Like the other poster, I also have a valid USA shipping address and do much of my own movement across the border for packages, at least those incoming where paying the Canadian tax at the border for me is less costly than the shipping cost to have it mailed to me in Canada.

I would appreciate being able to shop at the US store with my Canadian coupon but I doubt very much that will ever be allowed.

Re: Store owners - have you recieved shipping supplies code?

so will we even get an explanation, probably not, then they can justify the increase in store fees, because no-one or close to that will ever use the coupons, because they are near worthless..i can buy my shipping bubble mailers ,,which the store doesn't even offer in my size for 1/3 of what they are asking for it.. Ebay needs to open the coupon so we can use it where we want to buy our supplies,, not where they tell use to buy them from.. totally ridiculous move once again from ebay Canada, give us something we can't even use..so getting tired of this....

Thanks for this!  I've always ordered my supplies from the US and paid to pick them up in Washington.  These prices are excellent; can't wait to try them.

Re: Store owners - have you recieved shipping supplies code?

One can only suspect that eBay's problem is the definition of ......free shipping.

Someone who sells on eBay.com gets a batch of 25 boxes for $25 US  with free shipping.

and then ....the same batch of 25 boxes for a Canadian seller becomes $133 Canadian with free shipping.

By definition free shipping is zero cost for shipping...

That batch of boxes should be the same cost on both sides of the border.

The seller on eBay.com  and the seller on eBay Canada should both pay $25 US for that batch of 25 boxes...

and both should get that batch of boxes  with free shipping....

We shall know soon.....

Re: Store owners - have you recieved shipping supplies code?

The tape I ordered is being sent by Fedex. Tracking indicates I'll be the party to pay duty on it if duty is assessed. Unlike another online retailer from whom I pay in CAD but which ships from its USA warehouse, they, as the shipper pay applicable duty, I don't.

'Standard shipping' was the only information given on the listing. Not the company through which it would be shipped cross-border and brokered.

eBay will be shooting themselves in the foot with this shipping supplies coupon promotion if they haven't the sense to pre-pay duty for their Canadian customers (the sellers) with this. There will be a hue and cry of epic proportions.

Or, if we have to pay in CAD with our coupons a higher price than American counterparts, eBay could consider the decency of shipping from Canada to its Canadian sellers by starting its own stockpile north of the border.

Charging import fees on shipping supplies we're strongarmed into buying -- a so-called bonus which NO seller actually wanted in the first place -- is a kick in the pants.

We'll see. Between the reviews that say the tape is unsticky and stinks to high heaven combined with the possibility I'll be slapped with brokerage fees, I can only say I fear this will not end well.

Re: Store owners - have you recieved shipping supplies code?

If fed ex has it now I would think that they will be delivering it and if it is ground shipping, brokerage fees etc wont be included.   I hope that I'm wrong though.

Re: Store owners - have you recieved shipping supplies code?

I'm hoping that too but I don't think there's much cause for hope.

It says right on the tracking details that I'm to pay duty if duty is applicable and, unless, ebay Shipping Supplies undervalues the shipment to $19.99 CAD from $69.13 which was the price tag cost, I'll be on the hook for something between $20 and $40 CAD once it is delivered, going from my prior experience with FedEx and international shipments.

Others companies that charge CAD and ship from their USA stores can and so pay the duty as the shipper.

In fact, with that hideous price gap between $24 USD and $70 CAD for the identical item, I had assumed brokerage would be included with the 'free' shipping. The fact it is free shipping with shipping rolled into the item cost probably makes it even worse since it inflates the value of the item by $46.

Re: Store owners - have you recieved shipping supplies code?

Even though it's a $70 free coupon, why would I provide Ebay with free advertising and quadruple my chances of getting my merchandise stolen. Not to mention the ridiculously over inflated prices. $65 for 100 bubble pack envelopes? I get 400 for $32.

Re: Store owners - have you recieved shipping supplies code?

It wasn't me who wrote this letter to ecommercebytes http://www.ecommercebytes.com/C/letters/blog.pl?/pl/2016/6/1466078404.html

Dear Ina,
I'm writing to let you know about the state of the new shipping coupon rebate system and how it affects Canadian sellers.

Canadian sellers received their first coupon a day or two ago, and naturally we all went jumping for the free stuff! Sadly though we found that not only were the supplies triple the cost for Canadians but the supposed free shipping would be eaten up by the brokerage fees charged by FedEx.

These are not customs charges but brokerage fees and can be almost double the cost of the shipment, which makes the "coupon" and "free" shipping a moot point.

Now as a Canadian seller I am well aware of the differences between the dollar of our 2 countries but still 3x the amount? Seems a little excessive to me.

Add in the brokerage fees and you get no deals for Canadians.

With the recent changes from US to CAD dollar listings, this is just one more spear in the heart for Canuck sellers.
Sincerely
S.

For anyone who might be following this thread but not the weekly board hours, that's where things stand with this.

As to my parcel of ebay shipping supplies, tracking shows it's on the truck for delivery today which is super fast shipping for an order that was placed Monday night and dispatched from Kentucky on Tuesday morning. We shall have to see about the brokerage fees. If memory serves, FedEx delivers the item and then sends you the bill for brokerage fees/import taxes afterwards unlike UPS or CPC, for example, whose delivery drivers won't release the parcel to you until you pay.

To set the record straight, however, the official response from ebay Canada via Raphael at Board Hour http://community.ebay.ca/t5/Weekly-Chat-Session/June-15th-2016-Weekly-Session/td-p/340583/page/3 was this from Post 48

Good afternoon, Raphael:

I received and used my shipping supplies coupon earlier this week. I picked the packing tape despite my better judgement (thank you, feedback) since I've no use whatsoever for the other items and noted what costs US $23.99 for Americans is $69.18 CAD for Canadians. Please explain. That's not currency conversion.

Furthermore, the listing made no mention of the shipping service to be used. My Order Details from ebay indicate this packing tape is now in the hands of FedEx international and that

Bill duties/taxes/fees to

Recipient

The recipient: that's me. FedEx's import fees/brokerage on this will cost me exactly what amount? Another large international company (not ebay) that I use prepays that bill for duties/taxes/fees when you shop from from their store in CAD but they choose to ship from their USA warehouse. As is fitting.

If ebay Canada is serious about making ebay Shipping supplies for Canadian sellers work, they should have their own warehouse of shipping supplies located in Canada.

Or maybe don't use FedEx. Every single powerseller on eBay in Canada knows that couriers are to be avoided for international shipments due to their high brokerage fees for collecting duty, doesn't ebay as a corporation know this? Canada Post's handling charge is $9.95. That's high enough for most buyers.

Furthermore, I prefer to do my own importing. That's the reason I keep an American shipping address. Why can't I use a coupon issued in USD and shipped to a USA address?

Thank you,

Maureen

Hi Maureen,

Shipping these items via FedEx was actually an error which is being repaired as we speak. All shipments going forward should be sent via USPS and the listings are being updated to reflect that, which will result in lower prices shown on the listing.

For your current order, please get in touch with the seller via the listing you bought from and explain your predicament. If that fails, please reach me.

Re: Store owners - have you recieved shipping supplies code?

Finally found my "coupon"......

It's completely useless, even if there were items of interest the pricing is outrageous.

I'd buy something (anything) if my coupon covered the entire cost but it doesn't.
