My coupon is for $105.... for an Anchor store
My interest is in a batch of 25 boxes for about. $135.... about $30 More than the coupon.
I can buy the same batch of boxes from Staples for $30 including taxes... and with free shipping
Why use the coupon?.... without knowing extra costs such as customs fees... GST... and perhaps additional costs
An American seller with a $75 US coupon... also with an Anchor store... can buy three batches of the same boxes.
Why cannot I buy three batches of boxes with free shipping and with no extra money paid than a $75 US coupon.
Right now I will be losing $75 US in value every three months....

Hi msmaggie060,
I'm not sure that you can combine coupons that way, as they are attached to one user ID, as I understand it.
Please see the supplies store now, the team has been making changes to prices and shipping will be 100% via USPS going forward. You should see more attractive pricing.
Ahem.
While this is good news for Canadian ebay sellers moving forward, what does it mean for the early birds such as myself who already spent their coupons and have had their items shipped via brokerage-fee-happy-FedEx?
Inquiring minds (still) want to know.
Thank you,
Maureen

I had been using recycled cardboard from boxes to ship my books.
That option has disappeared
I found sheet cardboard from a local provider
Then in May I bought two batches of 25 boxes from Staples for about $65 total including PST and GST and with free shipping.
Compared to this the eBay coupon is not a viable option.
How about having Canadian sellers buy shipping supplies from Staples or another such provider in Canada?

Raphael,
- Statistical data that claims that listing in CDN is now more advantageous for Canadian sellers than in USD. I'm looking for details and how and when the study was done. What data was used, what products were used, etc.
The study ran for the year 2015 and looked at all items sold my all Canadian sellers, to any buyers anywhere in the world, across all categories. We then cut that data in many different ways to see where there were variations and found that with a few exceptions, CAD is better pretty much in every case.
@thecoinhunterca wrote:
- Specifically who within Ebay Canada made the final decision to put Canadian sellers through this fiasco? A name would be nice.
The final decision was made by eBay Canada's managing director, Andrea Stairs. You can see her talk about it in a video available on the page eBay.ca/cad.
For what it's worth, this fiasco is really eBay managing the marketplace for long term health. Actually, the vast majority of Canadian sellers have already aligned their practices.

- So now that I've changed some of my listing to .ca (Manually because the tool is useless) I noticed that one is forced to use selling manager as opposed to selling manager pro on the .com site. SMP comes from with the 2 top tier store subscriptions. Even though you may have a store subscription on Ebay.ca, you will not have access to SMP when managing your listings on .com. Actually Ebay.com wants you to pay an extra 15.95 USD for that privilege. , if Ebay is forcing the change it should provide the same functionality on both sites free of charge.
Selling Manager Pro comes free with the higher tier Store subscriptions on eBay.ca just like on eBay.com. Am I misunderstanding what you are saying?
@thecoinhunterca wrote:
- After deleting drafts (because of previous version screw-ups and duplicates) listings can no longer be converted via tool. Where is the “reset” functionality?
If you navigate to one of the 3 views that shows you only migrated listings, you will get the check boxes to re-migrate them. Those views are named Converted (CAD), Moved (eBay.com) and Drafts and can be selected via the pull down menu at the top of the tool.

Good afternoon, Raphael:
I received and used my shipping supplies coupon earlier this week. I picked the packing tape despite my better judgement (thank you, feedback) since I've no use whatsoever for the other items and noted what costs US $23.99 for Americans is $69.18 CAD for Canadians. Please explain. That's not currency conversion.
http://www.ebay.ca/itm/eBay-Branded-BOPP-Packaging-Tape-12-Rolls-75-yards-per-roll-/252350245880
versus
http://www.ebay.ca/itm/eBay-Branded-BOPP-Packaging-Tape-12-Rolls-75-yards-per-roll-/252394633830
Furthermore, the listing made no mention of the shipping service to be used. My Order Details from ebay indicate this packing tape is now in the hands of FedEx international and that
Bill duties/taxes/fees to Recipient
The recipient: that's me. FedEx's import fees/brokerage on this will cost me exactly what amount? Another large international company (not ebay) that I use prepays that bill for duties/taxes/fees when you shop from from their store in CAD but they choose to ship from their USA warehouse. As is fitting.
If ebay Canada is serious about making ebay Shipping supplies for Canadian sellers work, they should have their own warehouse of shipping supplies located in Canada.
Or maybe don't use FedEx. Every single powerseller on eBay in Canada knows that couriers are to be avoided for international shipments due to their high brokerage fees for collecting duty, doesn't ebay as a corporation know this? Canada Post's handling charge is $9.95. That's high enough for most buyers.
Furthermore, I prefer to do my own importing. That's the reason I keep an American shipping address. Why can't I use a coupon issued in USD and shipped to a USA address?
Thank you,
Maureen
Hi Maureen,
Shipping these items via FedEx was actually an error which is being repaired as we speak. All shipments going forward should be sent via USPS and the listings are being updated to reflect that, which will result in lower prices shown on the listing.
For your current order, please get in touch with the seller via the listing you bought from and explain your predicament. If that fails, please reach me.

Second:
The printer friendly version of the Order Details show the Payment as "Payment in Process" and the Shipping Cost as blank.

Hi theodoreides,
Thanks for the reports. I have already alerted the appropriate team about the Order Details page, and now will do the same for the VAT message.

A second issue, less pressing but still one that requires some kind of elaboration or explanation from ebay.
Why do some ebay users NOT have an option to use Research lists when others do?
I am one of the have-nots.
http://community.ebay.ca/t5/User-to-User-Help/where-to-find-my-research-list/m-p/340502#M3757
I had never seen this link before. I just checked with 2 accounts I have and one sees it, the other doesn't.
Best explanation for this I can give is, when we roll out new features, we sometimes use a ramping method to ensure everything works properly. We will start showing the feature to a certain percentage of users, watch what happens vs those who don't have it. If nothing seems broken, we ramp up to the next level, so on and so forth until we reach 100% of users.
Probably you will see it soon.

Is there some reason why eBay constantly changes things that are working fine? Usually the new version ends up being worse than the previous one. The "Searches you follow" page has changed recently. Aside from the new version looking worse than before (harder to read, poorly laid out, smaller fonts) it is lacking in functionality from the previous version. Previously you could just click on the name of the search (which can't be changed on that page for some reason but that happened years ago in a past "improvement") to see search items. Now you need to find the tiny "View Items" link over at the right hand side. This seems a step backwards to me.
And now the only options to sort the searches seems to be by name. Previously they could be sorted so newer searches were listed first. Since I can't give them meaningful names, searching by name seems rather pointless. If I have 100 searches saved, chances are I might be most interested in my most recent ones and want to view those first. But maybe that's just me. And if I wanted to see them by name then I could choose that option.
[Yes, I can go to the eBay home page, find the "You're following" 100 searches link and go in there and change the search name. However it doesn't seem to carry over into the "Searches you follow" page for some reason.]
And while I'm whining about searches, it seems the results returned to the mobile app are different than I get on the website. I recently modified and added a few searches and the website results are fine. However on the mobile app it appears I get results from every category. If I am looking for Ethiopian records I probably don't much care about Ethiopian gemstones. I would have thought that the search engine backend would be retrieving the same data and it would just be a matter of presenting it on different platforms. Or else the mobile app is not sending the proper query for some reason. Given that the mobile app is a piece of ***Bleep***, nothing surprises me about it anymore.
Hi bozonet,
Changes are part of maintaining a healthy platform. Every site does it. It would be preposterous to think that we got everything right the first time.
With that said, people get used to how things work and inevitably, when changes come, people have to adapt which creates friction. Any feature that gets simplified or taken away will hurt those who had been using it. There is no way around this even if, for example, the changes in question actually help many, many other members. It's the old "can't please everyone" adage. I hope you get used to the changes to saved searches.

Hi Raphael, I've had it open all day long and it's still 1924... I did have some that were listed through the .com and in US dollars so i understand now why it wouldn't be exactly the same. Is there any way though that I can check which ones are .com so that i can confirm i have all the listings? as originally when i started there was 1941 listings, now it shows 1924... so the numbers still really aren't adding up.
Shelly
Hi Shelly,
Glad to hear you're making progress. Unfortunately there isn't an easy or fast way to figure out whether you listed an item on eBay.com. You have to basically revise or relist a listing and watch the URL where you are taken to access the selling form. That URL will always be from the site where you originally created the listing.
Alternatively, you could use the migration too to download a list of your listings. That list will contain only (all) your USD listings that were created on eBay.ca (not the .com ones). You can then figure out which USD listings aren't on that list to know which were listed on eBay.com.

Is anyone experiencing missing shipments from Asian gadget suppliers. My last set of purchases (electronic parts, printer ink, air particle sensor, magnets etc) in late Apr and early May have not arrived. They said it was shipped but no sign of anything.
My suspicious mind almost thinks they took the order and either never sent the item but this is unlikely. So could it be the post office that is causing extraordinary delays or lost shipments. Two weeks is the fastest things arrive and five (maybe six) weeks at the outside. But it's odd almost everything is not reaching me.
Hi atw58,
I have heard about the Vancouver postal sorting facility being a bit overwhelmed, but I'm unsure if that is still the case.
In any case, if you still haven't received your items you should open a case to report your items as not received. If the eBay time has passed and you can't, do it on PayPal where you have 180 days to open such a case.

When you did your analysis last year and concluded that Canadian sellers would not be disadvantaged listing in Cdn$ instead of US$ on eBay.ca (except for auto parts) what were the results for the "books" category specifically?
Hi Pierre,
The Lifestyle vertical, which the Books categories are part of, showed 10% higher sell through rates for fixed price listings, and 15% higher conversion rates for auction-style listings.

Hi cumos55,
We know that ordering supplies that come from the US is far from ideal for Canadian sellers. We are working on a better, fully Canadian solution that should level the playing field.
