The Conservative brand

Is it in trouble?

The Conservatives always advertised themselves as open and accountable, etc. Even if they weren't, it was excused since there wasn't anyone else to vote for anyways. Now that there is, it seems the public is looking at them a little more closely. In opposition, the Conservatives would go ape over 100 million missing. They called it a major boondoggle. Now 3.1 Billion is missing and it's no big deal. Contracts are made for hundreds of millions and it turns out other countries are getting the same deal for 10 million. The auditor General can't even figure out where our taxpayer dollars are spent because they don't have the documents. This Gov't won't provide them. Harper is actually standing up in the house and defending a hundred million spent on TV ads promoting economic action ads during sports events that could actually hire quite a few people he's laying off. He's also defending MP's that were caught cheating during the last election and actually insinuating that if the region doesn't vote for his cheating MP in the by-election they may be cut off from Federal funding projects.

On top of that they are now saying that opposition MP's can now longer talk to the RCMP without their permission. So, in other words, the RCMP are now in their total control and no wrong doing by the Gov't will ever be investigated. So while our Gov't claims to hate communist Gov'ts they certainly like some aspects of it and are acting like communists.

From recent polls, it would suggest that Justin, inexperienced as he may be, is giving them a run for their money. It would be nice if the Conservatives didn't actually use our tax money to print anti-justin ads. That is an abuse of tax dollars. If the Conservatives want to run ads, or print ads, against Justin, the leader of one of the opposition, then it should be done with Conservative party dollars and the donations they receive from their supporters. Those 10 percenters allowed are for communicating with tax payers about programs available to the public. Not for partisan advertising or hate ads. My own MP ( Conservative ) , isn't even sending those ads into his own riding. He's using your tax dollars to send them to other ridings.

The Conservative brand in Canada is in trouble. Without any competition they may look good. With any competition or scrutiny at all, they sorely lack in ethics, accountability, openness, transparency and  honesty.

The majority of Canadians want ethics, accountability, openness, transparency and  honesty. They were promised this by this Gov't and they don't have it. In fact, they have less of this by this Gov't than they had by the last Liberal Gov't. At least the last Gov't acknowledged their shortcomings which this one will not.

More of the Conservative brand:

Friends,

Yesterday I was pleased to announce the successful deportation of convicted terrorist killer Mahmoud Mohammad Issa Mohammad from Canada.

Using loopholes and endless appeals available under Canada’s old, broken immigration system to delay his deportation for an astonishing 26 years, Mohammad represents just how broken Canada’s immigration and refugee determination systems had become under previous governments.

Since 2006, our Conservative Government has taken concrete actions to prevent this sort of abuse in the future. Through our long overdue reforms, we are sending a strong message that Canada will no longer be treated like a doormat by terrorists like Mahmoud Mohammad Issa Mohammad.

You can find my official statement below.

As always, please feel free to share this e-mail with friends and family.

Sincerely,

Hon. Jason Kenney, PC, MP

Calgary Southeast

The Harper government reminds me of a thief who one day gives a buck to one person on the street and says "look how good I am".... and then......."forget about everything else I have done to others".

"under Canada’s old, broken immigration system to delay his deportation for an astonishing 26 years"

It all started ...under the conservative government of Brian Mulroney and Kim Campbell - who did not do anything to solve that problem - ...and continued under the liberal governments of Jean Chretien and Paul Martin - who did not do anything to solve that problem -... and continued for seven more years under the current conservative government of Steve Harper - who did not do anything to solve that problem - until now.

Who should take credit for solving it... "26 years" later?

Such a weird thing about Canadians, especially Conservatives.

Even a lot of Conservatives go ape over Bev Oda sipping a $16 oj.

Yet these same Conservatives could seemingly care less about $3.2 bil in missing funds that can't even be found by the Auditor General!!!

Simply unbelievable absence of clear thinking.

All Harper has to do is say that he will legalise marijuana and he can take away most of Trudeau's, Mulcare's and May's votes.

Most likely it's the courts because they wore him down.

Of course he considers himself a freedom fighter and others consider him a terrorist. I suppose it's all in who you are when the history books are eventually written.... and by whom.

As wonderful as that may sound, I think it wouldn't really change much. The same people on both sides will believe what they believe about Mary Jane.

Fiscal conservatives would approve so that the government could save money by not incarcerating people for possessing it.

Progressives would favour it because they don't believe the lies that the social conservatives claim that it does.

The "conservative" brand in BC.  Is it in trouble?

In the spring of last year, Conservative support was polling above 20 per cent — neck-and-neck with the governing Liberals — raising hopes the party would soon be electing members to the legislature.

How many "conservative" candidates were elected yesterday in BC.

Keep looking....

Harper can never expand on his voter base unless does things like this.

He wants to stay in power any way he can and my guess is that he would legalize marijuana if he felt there was a big gain by doing so.

Nothing to do with anything.  The BC Conservative party hasn't won a seat in ~40 years.  Th BC Liberal party is the effective successor to the BC PC party with a few decade stop as the social credit party.  Recent effort to revive a Conservative party from virtually nothing was tanked by fear over the split vote would elect ndpers

What is interesting is the clear trend in Canada for incumbents to do far better then polls had been indicating.  QC, AB, BC...then federally

Last time I looked, the Liberals LOST power to the Parti Quebecois in the last election.

In Labrador, a conservative minister (member of the Harper cabinet) LOST his by-election a few days ago

I wouldn't count your chickens before they hatch.

The liberal golden boy has a bad case of "foot in mouth" disease and will fix things so that Harper gets another majority.
