Un-masking of email addresses

Seems as today eBay has begun un-masking the email addresses of buyers that send messages and have bought something.

Round of applause 🙂

Re: Un-masking of email addresses

It's a good thing, too. I have had several buyers tell me they could not find where to contact me or find my email address. eBay needs to change Ask a Question to Contact Seller or provide a more prominent link so buyers can find it.

If you use Blackthorne...all buyers e-mail addresses are entered into the database automatically. And, when you e-mail them it's a great opportunity to give them yours!

BT cost extra...but it's worth it!

I have noticed that several site 'upgrades' are no longer functioning as upgraded (eg bulk relist, Auto UPI, email addresses) and an older version of the function is coming up. This suggests that eBay has devolved to an earlier release of the site software, presumably while they work out issues with the new release. Don't get too excited about the email addresses, I'm sure they will disappear again once the newest site software is back on line 😞

Re: Un-masking of email addresses

Already disappeared 😞

However, we now get to add "signatures" and phone #'s.

Email addresses are not allowed but there is a way around that.

I haven't fiddled with it to see how to get around it but imo it's dumb that people cannot provide an email address in their message. I've often had people ask me to send them pictures.

Does it block url's?

Re: Un-masking of email addresses

We have random tested and in most cases URL to our outside of eBay store were blocked.

Re: Un-masking of email addresses

Figures...so much for the idea of giving someone a url to look at a picture.

Perhaps if ebay wasn't so busy making changes and po'ing both sellers and buyers, they wouldn't be so paranoid about sellers giving any
off-site information.

Re: Un-masking of email addresses

Most URL's worked. Just not the ones to our store. We pushed limits to see how far we could go.
