Why are you bashing Walmart ?
Yesterday I was at an Independent Grocer store and there was a bunch of guys running around harassing people and trying to get them to purchase a PC points card. And when I reached checkout the cashier wanted me to give money to send to Outer Mongolia or something like that.

If it's in the express aisle then they shouldn't be asking for credit card sign-up.

Yes they should take those signups aside.
Yesterday my wife asked me to buy buttermilk in SD on the way from work, so I had that plus other things in the cart. Was nice enough to put them back and walked out, we managed without it. Couple weeks ago we were in HarborFreight down in USA and cashier was doing signups. After 10min waiting while the line barely moved, I simply left my shopping cart there and walked out. There was over $100 in stuff I "might need someday", but so far did not need any of it ...
Regarding Walmart - use the long lines to have some remorse about the junk you are about to buy = savings.

I very rarely have had to wait at any store for someone to sign up for a credit card but have been held up numerous times with The Price Matching option they have
very irritating when the folk bring out all the competitors flyers and you have to wait for the clerk to verify the prices
to me they should have one til that allows that then those who are determined to do this can waste each others time

For some retailers, the cashier's hours are partially linked in to how well they are able to solicit at the till - donations, cards, whatever.

Anyone who shops at Walmart has nothing to complain about.
You get what you pay for.

Is the product you want to purchase worth waiting while the cashier tries to sell walmart cc to?
Imo most people shop there to save money, so quality of product and their time isn't important.

I did not imply anything, but if people continue to buy stuff at Walmart who imports almost everything they sell from Asia. We will continue to lose jobs to Asia and there won't be any jobs left in Canada except low paying jobs.

Could you show me a TV that is not made in Asia .
How about a computer ?
or a smartphone. Even the so-called Canadian company RIM has their product made in Asia.

what bugs me is that they often ask you to donate a buck or 2 to some charity. I usually do as I don't want to appear cheap. Perhaps someday I'll get a backbone.

Certainly not a Walmart exclusive, it is pervasive. When I posted about cashier hours related to amounts gotten at tht till , that is Sportscheck. It is not ccs but donations.
I never donate at a till, the more you do, the more you encourae it everywhere.
