Do you think it's OK for customers to be hasssled for credit card sign up at the busy line up counters, seems very annoying to me.
I'm in line to pay not to get a credit card.

I know that the clerks are asked to get people to sign up, but who the heck wants to hear other people trying to remember their address etc.
Walmart should offer sign up anywhere else but the busy line up! Yea like they care.

Why are you bashing Walmart ?

Yesterday I was at an  Independent Grocer   store  and there was a bunch of guys running around harassing people and trying to get them to purchase a PC points card.    And when I reached checkout the cashier wanted me to   give money to send to Outer Mongolia or something like that.

I have been in line behind customers taking 5 or 10 minutes to register with the cashier clerk, not a good way to do it, you also can see how pressured the cashier to get a. Customer to sign up. Cheeessy

If it's in the express aisle then they shouldn't be asking for credit card sign-up.

Not sure what line up, will make a point too check next time, l just find it rude when they force a customer to wait just to pay so they can get their bonus. I have emailed my complaint to them,I noticed lot of the seniors get snookered into their sale's pitch.
Leaving them vulnerable to hidden fees and security risks. thanjks

Yes they should take those signups aside.

Yesterday my wife asked me to buy buttermilk in SD on the way from work, so I had that plus other things in the cart. Was nice enough to put them back and walked out, we managed without it. Couple weeks ago we were in HarborFreight down in USA and cashier was doing signups. After 10min waiting while the line barely moved, I simply left my shopping cart there and walked out. There was over $100 in stuff I "might need someday", but so far did not need any of it ...

Regarding Walmart - use the long lines to have some remorse about the junk you are about to buy = savings.

I also left my purchase will not put up with fools, Walmart just rubs me the wrong way......if enough shoppers drop their items and leave they may pay attention.

I very rarely have had to wait at any store for someone to sign up for a credit card but have been held up numerous times with The Price Matching option they have

very irritating when the folk bring out all the competitors flyers and you have to wait for the clerk to verify the prices

to me they should have one til that allows that then those who are determined to do this can waste each others time

For some retailers, the cashier's hours are partially linked in to how well they are able to solicit at the till - donations, cards, whatever.

yes did think they had to get sign ups, but does not justify poor service to pay on a timely manner, for me I pay 11% on visa not highway robbery Walmart fee's.

Anyone who shops at Walmart has nothing to complain about.

You get what you pay for.

Lurk you have a point though was not talking about their products that is open to debate, my complaint was the cashier holding up customers to fill out
CC info.

Is the product you want to purchase worth waiting while the cashier tries to sell walmart cc to?

Imo most people shop there to save money, so quality of product and their time isn't important.

is the product worth waiting? Guess my answer is only if needed like medicine, I left my items so you have my answer. Your post implies that lower income shopper expect lower service, why? My time is important . jmho

I did not imply anything, but if people continue to buy stuff at Walmart who imports almost everything they sell from Asia. We will continue to lose jobs to Asia and there won't be any jobs left in Canada except low paying jobs.

Could you show me a TV that is not made in Asia .

How about a computer ?

or a smartphone.  Even  the so-called Canadian company RIM  has  their product made in Asia.

I do have one little story about my experience with this store, years ago I bought a tiny tiny goldfish for 18 cents now 5 years years later the fish is over 8 inch long and my wallet thousands of dollars short keeping the thing happy and healthy :). Well it looks like a goldfish have bought at least 3 larger water tanks etc. Sometimes wish to give it away but just can not..

what bugs me is that they often ask you to donate a buck or 2 to some charity. I usually do as I don't want to appear cheap. Perhaps someday I'll get a backbone.

Certainly not a Walmart exclusive, it is pervasive.  When I posted about cashier hours related to amounts gotten at tht till , that is Sportscheck.   It is not ccs but donations.

I never donate at a till, the more you do, the more you encourae it everywhere.
