All of my listings state the item ships without tracking. I still get people daily asking for tracking numbers. What do you guys tell them?

For the low value items that I sell, where postage is usually a buck or two, I tell people the truth. I simply tell them that outside of Canada, tracking would add $15.25 to the shipping cost, and in Canada, $8.25. Most are happy with that answer.

I tell them the honest truth.
I say that CP charges way to much for tracking. The extra cost would be x dollars more than what the buyer already paid.

I politely say that tracking is not available on small parcels. However, har-uumph! The issue of tracking is dealt with in all of my listings. I am tempted, but only tempted, to quote from the listing.
eBay selling 101, buyers do not read.

I have never mentioned tracking numbers or anything to do with tracking , in listings, or in emails.
I mailed a lot with non-trackable lettermail, and with non trackable small packet..
I did not want to cloud the buyer perception that tracking was an absolute necessity... but not available..
If a parcel is slow in arriving at its destination... and buyers asks for a tracking number....my comment is that the postal option is a least cost option with no tracking, but fully insured.... and the buyer very quickly gets the parcel.
I always felt that saying something in a listing is asking for trouble.... and then being negative over its requirement in a listing adds a level of difficulty That is not needed...
Now that I use Tracked Packet USA.... I have made sure that tracking is uploaded to eBay correctly for all purchases where tracked packet is available....I want to see how close I get to 90 % tracking....Most likely not even close because of all of the purchases mailed without tracking....
It is also possible that the search may recognize the use of tracking even if it is not 90 %

I just state that it's regular mail. If they want tracking numbers, it's an extra $10

What do you tell people about tracking numbers??
The truth!
Most people don't ask, and when you use online shipping buyers often get an email that strongly suggests that the item is being tracked when it's not.
It's a sort of quiet conspiracy to make buyers behave.
It's a good thing!

Dear Customer,
unfortunately I cannot tell you when your Rolls Royce will be delivered, because I can only find record of you buying a Dodge Caravan.
Sincerely
Your Seller

I love those international buyers who pay $4 shipping and leave note "ship by UPS" 🙂

I don't say anything about Delivery Confirmation or tracking unless my customer asks. Why give someone ideas?
If I use a shipping label through Paypal, I will put the shipping invoice number in the feedback I leave. But recently I have switched to discount postage and the money I save covers the possible occasional loss. (And actually I have had no losses since switching to untracked, stamped shipments).
I do give the shipping date in my feedback. And respond to questions promptly.
