What if a seller states they are in North America, but they are actually in China?

I just recently purchased an item from a seller that says that they are in North America. I've bought items from sellers in China before, and their big problem is that it takes around a month for items to get delivered from them, but they are very cheap cost-wise of course. This time I decided I didn't want to wait that long for the items to get delivered so I specifically filtered on North America-only vendors. Now that I've paid for it, it looks like it's being mailed from China. I even paid a bit more for it, thinking it might be coming from North America. It's only been less than a week, and it may show up by next week, but I'm afraid it'll take the usual amount of time from China.

Is there any recourse about this sort of false advertising?

Drop shippers like this are often either naive or lazy.

They don't really read the eBay contract and don't understand (or want to understand) that they are required to give the location their items will be shipped from and NOT their own location.

BTW, they usually have never seen the items they offer , have no control over stock or over packaging, and cannot do anything about problems with the products.

They just see "No money down, we do all the work" and like the idea of money for no effort.

Rant over.

Promise.

You can Report the seller to eBay for having a false location.

There is a Report button on every listing.

Actually time is less of a problem than the possibility that you will be charged duty and sales tax on arrival on your doorstep.

You can often spot dropshippers by using Search > Compare.

If all the listings are identical, except for price, all of them are dropshipping from the same supplier.
