I shipped two items won at auction by Expedited Parcel - USA (insured) to a customer in Michigan on January 5th. On January 26th I receive an email from the customer through eBay EFS that I have been ignoring emails and "where is my package or I want a refund".
A quick check of the USPS web site showed that the item was scanned delivered by USPS on Juanuary 14th. So I email her back the delivery conf. # and point out that the item has been delivered.
She has now emailed me again and wants me to ship replacements for the items because she feels that USPS dropped the package on her doorstep and it was likely stolen while she was at work. At the very least she want me to file a claim with CP.
My gut reaction is that CP will do little to help me or, if they do process a claim, will only compensate me my costs. That seems inappropriate as it was strictly through postal carrier error that this situation developed - why would any carrier leave a package unattended on a doorstep in Detroit? I'm not sure why, in this instance why I should lose my profit.
Any thoughts on the matter would be appreciated.

I believe that USPS requires a signature for Expedited USA parcels. If the website updates your item as being delivered, then someone had to have signed for it. I know this because I had a package returned to me from a buyer who was never home to sign for it and never bothered to retrieve it at his local PO. Delivery confirmation and signature go hand and hand with USPS (something CP should realize some day).
I wouldn't refund anything, not at least until you open an inquiry with CP. Think you being taken here.

I've checked the CP website and a signature is not available. The custoer has an excellent feedback rating and no priors so I guess I am (within reason) inclined to believe that their carrier has messed up.
I still don't plan on letting CanadaPost/USPS off the hook but I have already had two fights with them this week. I'll prepare for another battle with them on Monday.
