Why Do Buyers Do It?

I just received an email from Square Trade to resolve a 'dispute' with a customer. The customer claims I never emailed her with instructions on how to pay yet admits she received the Canadian $ amount for her purchase including shipping charges and taxes (how does she think she got that information?).

In fact I sent her 2 emails and was waiting for her to advise how she was goiong to pay out of the 5 options I gave her.

Instead of emailing me directly, she goes through Square Trade which means I spent 25 minutes of my time instead of 2 minutes dealing with her failure to be more organized.

You know this will probably turn out to be a customer who is going to give me a negative feedback no matter how many hoops I have to jump through for her.

No, not at all.
On occasion, I have listed a piece of jewelry that went way over what I had ever imagined for it. Two bidders, going head to head over an item, is what makes ebay so darned addicting! And, if you have 3 people after it, even better!
I have always been nervous about sending an item, even if it is great quality, when I have made big money on it, but that is what an auction is all about.
Enjoy!

Malcolm, I wouldn't give it a second thought if I were you. I used to sell beanie babies on here. I would buy one for $9.99 plus tax, (CDN) and sometimes sold them for well over $100 American (back in the day). Did I feel guilty? Not for one second!! Now, if only those hundreds of the durn things could sell for even 1/2 what I paid for them I'd be happy! LOL

By the way Malcolm, have you asked these manufacturers if they can make the violins in red/white/blue. You would make a killing on the patriotic Americans as they love that kind of stuff!!!

You missed my summer specials?

I ordered in off-white electric guitars and electric basses with pictures of American flags imbedded into the bodies of the guitars. I had about 20 of each. I called the the "Patriots" thinking both of American patriotism and the patriot missiles.

I hoped to sell them all to the US in a matter of days. As it turned out, I sold a total of 3 to Americans with one of them living in Canada who couldnt play guitar but thought it would look great in his Americana office on the east coast.

The majority of them were bought by our fellow patriotic Canadians, a couple sent to the UK and one to Norway.

You just cant win.

Here take a look at the link to some of the pics I had for my auctions: http://www.shopline.ca/ebay/patriot/
(I do the digital pics and my son does all our auction ads with the graphics and HTML)

I can't get the link to work!! :o(

Wow, how strange Malcolm. I'd have thought the Americans would go nuts over them. I personally LOVE the American flag and red white and blue so I suppose a lot of other Canucks do as well.

Try This: http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2565818530&ssPageName=ADME:B:LC:CA:1
and click on More Views under the pic of the guitar and you will be flooded with the American Flag.

I thought with the returing troops the Americans would go nuts buying them. Funy thing when the war broke out I advertised bugles. My auction ads said they were real instruments but would lokk great over the fireplace with a yellow ribbon around it, next the the US flag.

Those I sold to the US like crazy>

New Nutcase buyer

A week ago I receive an email from someone bidding on a set of Student drums. He asks if he can pick them up if he wins as he lives in Ottawa and I say he can. I even tell him if he wins I'll throw in a drummer;s throne.

Auction ends, he doesnt win. Here it is 2 days before Christmas he emails me and asks if I will sell him a set?
I give him a great price ($365 plus tax)and tell him the drummer's throne if free and I will deliver it to him for free but we need to close the deal right away as this is the last day I ship for another week.

He emails me an hour later and tells me he will only pay me $350 tax included and then goes on how I am making this the best Christmas ever for his boy.

I dont know how I am doing that as I simply emailed the guy and said the deal is dead, its my terms or he can shop at Zellers.

I should have known this guy wasnt that smart, he works for the federal government (sorry for the few smart civil servants out there).

You just can't please some people. Nothing wrong with someone trying to work out a deal but that guy is just plain rude and obnoxious. There is a right way and a wrong way of negotiating and that guy is clueless.

LOL re the civil servants. I worked for many years for what was once known as Unemployment Insurance Commission, and later as the Canada Employment Center so I know exactly what you mean. LOL

Its not the civil servants' fault. They are trained that way. As someone in private business all my life, I can tell you that seldom would any company that I ever worked for employ a civil servant because of the training they received and work environment being so imbedded into them

You just couldnt apply the skills they had into a profit making business, it never worked and retraining took too long. It was better hiring someone without any experience than someone trained in how to survive in the government.

Probably the last update on this thread:

I still never received any emails from this person however I noticed that she left me positive feedback yesterday so I did likewise in return (not my normal habit to hold back).

This has been a strange one indeed but she bought and paid for her item and I delivered so End of Story (Or is it?)
