Why are ticket listings still on EBay after the event is over?

I routinely search EBay for tickets to concert events in my area. I have found many listings that are already expired (i.e. that the event occurred in some cases over a year previous to the current date). These tickets are not being sold as 'souvenirs'. It looks like someone has just forgotten about them and left them on, probably inadvertently.
Is there not some way that EBay can make sure that these listings expire and are removed? Those of us who are searching don't have the time or inclination to wade through the plethora of non-existent tickets in order to find current/up-and-coming ones.
Thank you.

Maybe but will they? Probably not. As with all listings, it up to the potential buyer to read the details before bidding or buying.
As you have seen, some of the sellers are not diligent in removing listing that have expired tickets or maybe they figured no one would buy them once the event has taken place.
As a buyer, you will just have to buy tickets far enough in advance to not have to worry about tickets being expired.
Non payers should get unpaid item strikes and be added to block bidders lists. Period.
