I am a Canadian seller but have always sold in US currency, about a week ago on my 'create your listing' page it has started to default to CAD currency each time and I am forced to change it manually, which slows everything down. Also when I change the currency, 3 of the settings appear at the top in red that need attention, payment method, shipping method, and returns. Which then seems to change around the wording of everything in those categories at the bottom. Any info would be great thanks

That question was covered two days ago during the Weekly Board Hour:
We all guess it is a first step towards eventually making eBay.ca a one domestic currency site like all other eBay international sites.

Since we can do nothing about the possible currency listing changes, we should look at it as a positive. We will know exactly how much the item sells for, no exchange rate or fee to consider. We can adjust our listing price to reflect the difference between Can. and US $. In the end, we deposit Can. $ to our Can. banks. Now we just have to hope our US buyers can wrap their heads around the weird prices, if they show in US $ on ebay.com.
I have decided to continue to enjoy selling on ebay. Over the many years, since ebay started, there have been many changes, and there will probably be many more. So, we can either quit or hang in there. Cheers, everyone.

Except not everyone tranfer their money into their bank account. I know that myself, I often use the money to buy other things for my collection. If they force me to sell in CAD $, I'll have to pay exchange fees every time I buy something. And God knows PayPal has a very high exchange rate.*
It is true that buyers on .COM will find it very strange that their US price change every day according to the current exchange rate. I think that is part of the reasons why I did not sell very much when I had my prices set to CAD $.
However, if this is another change I have to adapt to, I'll do it. It will just be another thing that sucks. 😞
* I know, I know, it cannot be the same as the one listed on eBay, but it will still cost me more $ in the end.

" If they force me to sell in CAD $"
I think eBay.ca made it clear they would NOT force anyone to sell in Cdn$.
Sellers will always have the option to sell in US$ on eBay.com, in £ on eBay.uk, in € on most eBay sites in Europe, etc...
For the last fifteen years, eBay.ca has been the only eBay site with two currencies. If they change it to a single domestic currency (Cdn$) like all their other international sites it will not be the end of the world.

Oops, point taken. As I'm strictly a seller, I didn't take into account, Canadian buyers would need the US currency. I guess, the way around that, is maybe a preloaded American credit card, if Paypal allows that. If so, we decide when to buy the US $, when the rate is more favorable. I have one from Bank of America, for traveling. However, funds are tied up there, and does not earn interest.

And here I was just told 5 minutes ago that I must have pressed something while creating my listing that changed it to Canadian dollars. When they make changes like this, they should at the very least advise customer service.
So first buyers from the US and Canada can't add to cart, and now they will force me to sell in Canadian dollars. It's almost becoming that time...

I just ran into the same problem. Two of my listings ended up in Canadian dollars. And all I did was hit SELL SIMILAR ITEM. Talked to an ebay rep that didn't help much clarifying this. If we sell in Canadian dollars that means our money sitting in paypal is now in Canadian dollars. Am I right? So we now have to pay the currency exchange which is about $1.25 lets say for today.
Another question I had. Lets say I want to transfer $500.00 that is now sitting in paypal. How does that work. Do they pay me in Canadian dollars or US dollars. If its Canadian dollar depending on value that day I could really be losing out here no?

"Do they pay me in Canadian dollars or US dollars. "
If your bank account is at a Canadian bank, you will receive funds in Canadian dollars.
Currently, US$100 is worth about Cdn$127 once you factor the conversion fee.

If your listing was done in Canadian dollars then yes...when you get paid for it, it will be paid to you in Cdn currency

I'm not sure what you mean. If you want the Canadian money changed into American, yes, you have to pay an exchange rate.
If the buyer is in the U.S. or in another country, you don't pay an exchange rate....they would have already paid it.
If you want to list in U.S. dollars, use the advanced listing form.

I meant "force me" on eBay.CA. Please do not take my words out of their context. It then changes their whole meaning. 😉 Thank you!

RE: "f you want to list in U.S. dollars, use the advanced listing form." I think the person IS using the advanced form. I do, and when I am creating a new isting using the Sell Similar function, the currency setting defaults to CD$ and I have to change it back again. Very annoying. So is the fact that the parcel weight defaults to zero and I have to enter that figure again as well.
Ebay keeps making functional "improvements" without considering the impact that they have on users. As I told someone else in a discussion on this topic who had 830 items listed, if s/he wanted to change them back to US$ it would take about 5 mouse clicks to do each one, for a total of 4,150 additional clicks. Ouch. And at 2 minutes per listing, about 28 hours to do them! Thanks, eBay, for the "improvements."

That's so true and very frustrating.
