Why does there not show any competitive bids as we kept increasing our bid?

We had an automatic bid increase set up with a maximum price. As I was away my wife did the final bidding which she won. She said that she was prompted to increase her bid as it was not high enough to be higher than the competitive bidder. Below is the history showing only our increases

It all appears OK to me.

There was a $400 bid placed at 19:44

When your wife rejoined the bidding a few hours later at $360 she was the underbidder.  She kept raising her bid until it went above the earlier bid of $400

All appears normal.

Where do you see a problem?

The other bids were being made automatically as the buyer had set their maximum bid earlier.  If you click on "show automatic bids" on the top right corner of the bidding screen you will see each increase.

Have you tried Bean-X?

If you are thinking 'shill', I would disagree. Shill bidders do want the bidding to go as high as possible, but never want to win.

We don't know how much a***a actually bid, only that paintbob forced him up to $400.

More likely, he is an enthusiastic newbie. Sellers love those guys.

paintbob-- It is not the last bid that wins, it is the highest bid that wins. How high that goes depends on the underbidder  --in this case Mrs. paintbob.

The best strategy is to bid once and bid your highest.

This was the strategy of a***a.

Since you didn't want to go any higher than your highest bid, obviously a***a paid too much. Newbies, eh?
