can a seller change price once item is sold and paid for?

i bought something for $2 and the next day the seller sends me an email to ask me to cancel my order as the price was a mistake in their system and should of been 39.99

I would not agree to cancel the order.It is not your fault they made an error.I once listed an item for 99 cents and it should have been 9.99 my loss.

It is totally up to you but I would not.
