Hello, I would like to know if it is ok to charge taxes on paper or coin money from Canada and USA. Thank you for your time.

HI.. Its not ok to charge tax on any international sales , US or otherwise.

 

Its not ok for Canada unless you are registered with government agencies to collect.

Think i misread your question.. if registered to collect on canadian sales for coins/paper , i would think yes.

 

I'm not an expert and do believe there is an exemption for some pure ie 24kt gold , pure silver. Why not call GST and ask.

If you sell a loonie for one dollar, you can't charge sales tax on it.

If you sell it for $1.01 or for $0.99, then it stops being a coin and becomes a collectible piece and taxes are due.

BUT

Only sellers who are registered to remit taxes are allowed to collect them. The appropriate GST/HST/PST number should be on the invoice.
