eBay Power Seller Gifts to US Power Sellers

Once a month I venture onto the US PS Discusion Board
There are currently a couple of complaints about a few Power Sellers who have NOT received their package of gifts from eBay.

However, like everything else eBay paid attention to its US Power Slleres and promptly responded (Rizal) asking that those who havent received anything email him directly and he will make certain that their gifts go out right away.

Now I will never live or die without getting anything from eBay such as the long-promissed coffee mugs and t- shirts, pens, mouse pads, bumper stickers, business card holders and other trinkets they are dishing out now but isnt this getting a little ridiculous.

I mean, as a Canadian I am pretty friggin insulted being treated this way by eBay. Remember we are all equal in eBay land except the Canadians.

eBay should either give all Power Sellers something or give nothing at all but I dont know where they get off rewarding the US Power Sellers over the Canadian Power Sellers.

Hey eBay screw the bloody gifts because it is too late now, just give us a break in fees because I dont see why I should be paying to buy for gifts for the US Power Sellers!!!!!

I can't say that, with the exchange rate increase and the postal fee increases, that I've been feeling particularly equal to US Power Sellers for quite a while. This last weekend, for example, I recieved many emails requesting shipping costs. Not one buyer, however, after I related the new postal fees. It looks like, this week, my sell-through rate has dropped from 40% to 0%. Face it, we're not equal but very much lesser. I rather have the revenues than the gifts. And the really substancial fee increases are, of course, yet to come.

I queried Rizal about the US sellers getting stuff and the Canadians getting nothing, and he advised he'd let me know.

So the question remains...........why can't eBay Canada ship things to Canadians, given that eBay in the US are unwilling to do so ? It seems to me to be an extremely small investment in good will. Those of us on this side of the border seem to fall into the "ignored and neglected" category of seller, no matter what level we're at.

Paypal wasn't an eBay company when they sent out the Tshirt...otherwise we wouldn't have got any, silly!!

Actually eBay had owned PayPal for almost a year when they sent out the T-Shirts but I agree that their policy has probably since changed.

Lovely world isnt it? Some of the US Power Sellers call what they received from eBay junk and eBay tells us we dont deserve even the junk they gave the US Power Sellers paid for from our fees.

Hey eBay. I cant pay my fees anymore because my fees end up in Switzerland and I dont deal with Switzerland.

I'm glad they don't send me anything, I don't need a $5.00 customs charge for a bunch of useless junk.

I doubt they would be able to complete the customs form correctly and even still would probably send it via UPS/Fedex resulting in an even nastier bill.

They could save me the trouble and send it directly to landfill in Michigan!

The $5.00 service charge has recently been an $8.00 service charge for me... I think its because in January Canada Post took over Purolator's deliveries into Canada.

Great system hey? Good courier company -- Canada Post -- just as slow as ever. And they charge an additional handling fee for the "service".

I think we should open a thread on the US powerseller side about eBay being cheap to Canadians and have all the Canadian powersellers bump the thread.

Just a suggestion, but let me know.

Well guys and gals, I decided to ask around about us getting the shaft with the PowerSeller freebies and good news!

Apparently, we haven't been forgotten! Mugs are on the way! There was a hold up because they were getting special mugs made to recognize our unique and special place in the PowerSeller community as Canadians! They're somewhat similar to the mugs the US/UK PowerSellers received, but with unique detailing to distinguish our cherished spot in the eBay community.

I hate to break this to you guys but eBay Canada is NOT owned by eBay.com/USA. eBay Canada is owned by one of the European eBay companies - Switzerland or Denmark or something like that. So if you are going to throw a flaming paper bag of poop somewhere about lack of loot, throwing it south of the border is the wrong direction.

Cute job on the mug! It's almost worth taking the pic in to one of those places that does picture mugs for proud grandmas and get them to make one!

Seriously, all I want, and I really think we all need it, is the ability to access the .com powersellers help! If we list on .com, then obviously any problems we have are with .com -- being told by .ca help to switch our listings to the Cdn site is no help at all!! Shira promised she'd look into it but haven't heard any more from her. I guess it's time for another email. Maybe if a few more of you would email her as well, we might have a chance of getting some kind of results.
