Do I understand this correctly? Are these sessions 3-hours only? Will there be any advanced tips and tricks of interest to powersellers or is it more a social thing?

The sessions will be 3 hours long, and are geared toward users who have sold more than 50 items. It is great when Power Sellers come to the event as they are inspiring to other sellers who are looking to grow their businesses. It is also a great opportunity to meet the eBay.ca staff and have questions answered.
