This has been happening for a while on eBay.com.
When a search starts with Books, and then Non-fiction
There is no further breakdown by Subject and then Topic.
There is no problem on eBay.ca
as I regularly do a search for
Books > Non-fiction > History > Canada....
Something that cannot be done on eBay.com
This has to be a glitch
as it does not make sense to stop at Non-fiction without a further breakdown by Subject and then Topic.....

Today is Monday, August 26..8:16 AM CDT
There are close to 5 million books in one category on eBay.com.... Nonfiction......
Who can find one special book on a specific topic out of 5 million..... without finding History > Europe, or Military and War > World War II or what ever.....
A fix up was due yesterday!!!
One might think it is not a big problem for a seller that lists on eBay.ca
However, many of my buyers buy off eBay.com...... where there are more listings in many, many other... Subjects>Topics...
It is tradition for these buyers , and what they do automatically...

I would suggest you to post your question/concerns on the weekly board hour. The last one was yesterday, but next one is September 4. If the problem is not solved until then of course.

I already have someone at eBay Canada looking for an answer to this situation....
Some questions... Some important questions have not been answered as yet
There is a possibility that a category search by Subject > Topic may not be available on eBay.com.... in future
Is it a glitch? Only eBay knows.....
Currently I find no Subject > Topic search capability within nonfiction books on eBay.com.... and this applies to IE7, IE8, and IE9... and would also appear to occur with Chrome and Firefox.
I can still view a Subject > Topic breakdown for nonfiction books on eBay Canada with IE9... not available on eBay.com
I had always assumed that a search by category was there for the buyer....
The level of Internet Explorer may have an effect on this ability to view a Subject > Topic breakdown.... I had always assumed that everyone saw the same result regardless of what they had on their computer to view eBay.
Evidently that is not so.
This removal of Subject > Topic viewing for nonfiction books may be deliberate on the part of eBay....
However, there has been no notification on the part of eBay that his was going to happen.
Having nonfiction books as a single mass of over 4 million listings is not logical....
A Breakdown by Subject > Topic is an absolute necessity.... For the buyers who use this as a part of a search protocol by category, and for sellers who want to view what a search protocol does to a seller's listings.
