Most eBay sellers are do not have merchant accounts and cannot take cards directly.

Go to paypal.com and register there as a user. This is a very secure service and it is free to the buyer.

It takes a day or two to complete registration so do it before you start buying.

It is a good idea to pay through Paypal from your card, because this gives you two layers of protection in case a transaction goes bad.

A few sellers, who have B&M businesses or are very large are VISA merchants. While they have various systems, most will either direct you to a page where you manually enter your card information (watch for the HTTPS in the URL) or ask you to email them with your card information split between two emails.

Paypal is easier.

Hello 'shabca8',

Paying with a credit card on ebay is just about the easiest thing in the world.  I know,

I've done it over a thousand times.

Holding your card in one hand, with your other hand click Buy it Now from the listing you

are viewing for the item you want.

Then click Confirm, to indicate that you are serious about buying and paying.

Next click on the Pay Now button on the following page.

After you have clicked Pay Now, you see a page with two payment options.

The top one shows all the credit card icons.  Click that.  Then click Continue.

(The second option is paypal accounts).

On the next page enter your personal information and card numbers.

Your billing information entered must match that on the credit card statement.

When you have correctly entered all your information, click Pay at the bottom.

You will get two notices of payment in your regular email:

1)  a receipt from paypal (yes, you used a credit card, but paypal brokers the transaction

to get the money from your card to the seller)

2) a confirmation from ebay

Happy shopping!
