how my add does not accept cart for outside buyers

hi

 

im am using ebay CA   for my ad  i offer combine shipping for some of my ad  

 

it do work on ebay CA

 

BUT if a buyer from outside using ebay COM  they dont have option for cart so cannot get discount combine shipping

 

what did i do wrong

 

anybody could help me   or what my solution

You haven't done anything wrong. The cart on .com can only be used for listings that were done on that site. If you list on .ca and someone is shopping on .com, they have to pay for each item one at a time unless they contact you ahead of time and you either ask them to sign into .ca and buy it there or you can put together one listing with the items that they want.

 

If you have a lot of U.S. buyers you might want to list on that site instead.

There is nothing that you can do about that, unfortunately. The Shopping Cart on ebay.com and the Shopping Basket on ebay.co.uk do NOT accept listings from outside their own sites. That means Canadian-generated listings on ebay.ca won't go into their cart or basket at all. If you list in USD on ebay.ca your buyer will get a further confusing set of instructions and/or directions because the ebay.com Cart will initially think it's okay to take it as USD but the buyer still won't be able to checkout. 

 

If you search the term Shopping Cart Disconnect on Community here, you will see you are not alone with this problem. 

 

What I do is add a section to each one of my listings under Payment Instructions. I don't know if it helps any but here it is: 

 

Seller's payment instructions

If you are shopping from ebay.com or ebay.co.uk, you will discover you cannot add items listed on ebay.ca to your cart/bag/basket. Log into www.ebay.ca to take full advantage of our combined postage discounts and free shipping promotions. You’ll be glad you did
 
Aside from that, all you can really do it grit your teeth and smile, refund the buyer their additional postage paid and combine your orders manually. Oh, and don't forget to call ebay Customer Service afterwards to request your Final Value Fees on Shipping be credited to your account.

 

That is important. It is my opinion that if ebay has to look at the reason they are refunding thousands of sellers their FVF on Shipping (money gone) they will ask themselves the reason for that and fix the problem and/or oversight.

and also in my descrition

 

and yes will phone them for credit for fees over paid

I hear you loud and clear. Listing directly on ebay.com would be the last thing I'd do too. My business model is set to combine ACTUAL postage costs.

Everyone here has different priorities and handles things differently. Flat rate may not work for you but I'll just mention how I handle it. It might work for you...it might not.

 

It looks as if your shipping to the U.S. is either small packet or tracked packet. Flat rate shipping would be fine for that as the rate is the same anywhere in the U.S.

 

Small packet varies to other countries of course but I will generally give a flat price based on the rates to UK/Europe and then add on a bit extra. That means that I would make a bit extra for every item sent to that area and that extra makes up for the few times when the postage is more. If the majority of my int'l sales were to Australia or Russia...I would do things differently of course.

 

If you have a lot of buyers in Canada then calculated shipping is probably more important to you than to others. I'm in Alberta and the majority of my Canadian buyers are in Ontario and the second highest amount in Quebec so I base my flat rate somewhere between what it costs to ship to both provinces.   It does tend to average out in the end.

 

In many cases I put some of the shipping cost in the item price so if I charge 7.95 as a flat rate...that rate looks good to an Alberta buyer and it looks fantastic to a buyer in Nova Scotia. I may lose somewhat on the NS order and gain on the BC and Alberta order but as I said it does tend to average out.
