seller witholding feedback

I had a seller claim an item was authentic and it turns out it was fake. Seller has also withheld feedback so that if I dare to leave negative feedback they will have a way to retaliate.  I want to warn others but don't know how to do it without jeopardizing my own good rating.

Sellers cannot leave negative feedback for buyers.  So your "good rating" is safe.

If you received an item which is not as described, you can file a Not as Desribed dispute.  The procedure to deal with that is outlined in the following link, see section 4:

http://pages.ebay.ca/help/buy/item-not-received.html

You may be required to return the item (at your own expense), and may be further asked to show proof the item is fake.  This is to prevent people from returning items when they've merely changed their mind.  As for the seller "withholding feedback", it is never so nefarious as all that.  Someone else was inquiring about feedback today, - you can read about it if you like:

Don't forget that you only have 45 days from the time you paid for the item to open the dispute.

Since sellers can no longer leave negative feedback, all buyers, including non payers, have "good ratings".

Since feedback is voluntary and since sellers cannot leave negs, some choose not to leave any if they are not satisfied with how the transaction went. Although the seller cannot leave a neg for you, they can do a follow up to the feedback you leave them.

Non paying buyers deserve unpaid item strikes.
