Some claimed that they don't know "how" to ship them to Canada which is the most silly reason I ever heard.  They go to the same post office to ship any items to anywhere in the world!

Some don't want to have to write on custom papers.

Of course that is their loss, when in fact, they could have sold them to Canada and get $$$, but that is the way they are.

I would think those sellers must be rednecks!  It is 2013, nearly 2014!

Re: why are so many people in the US not selling and shipping to Canada?

Some have had problems with buyers posting negative feedback because they felt their item took too long to arrive, when it might have been shipped quickly but been held up at the Border Agency or Canada Post - which of course is not any fault of the sellers, but they pay the price for it when bad feedback damages their seller rep.

If I was a US seller and got stung that way I'd probably think about not shipping outside the US as well.  International buyers have to be patient, have to allow that 3-4 weeks delivery and not expect it in a week (though I've been fortunate and HAVE received US parcels in a week 🙂  ).

Just offering another possible issue - one I myself can relate to.

Also, some who have items that say they don't ship outside US will if you message them directly and ask.  If your feedback is good enough etc.  Just be sure they reply telling you its ok to bid or buy and if you are smart, ask up front what they'll charge you for shipping to your location, otherwise you are contractually committed to whatever the final invoice sent to is for.  Never just bid on or buy an item that doesn't list your location for shipping without the sellers permission to do so.  You get a 'flag' on ebay when you try to anyway.

Meant to also add that sellers get grief and 'blamed' occasionally when the buyer ends up being charged taxes/duty by the Canada Border Agency - again, beyond the sellers control and is just part of buying from outside Canada.

In fairness, not all U.S. sellers use the postal service to ship their items domestically, and not all U.S. users of the postal service take their items to the post office to be mailed.  They get their items picked up, instead, and not all international packages can be picked up by a mail carrier.

I get the impression that for many U.S. sellers, the thought and learning curve of shipping internationally is like trying to learn to drive a car with a shift stick after years of driving cars with automatic transmissions.
