Managed Payments, at this point in time, doesn't apply to seller's who sell coins, and or bullion, silver/gold etc.. How is ebay planning to make us all go into the managed payment system, when they don't currently, support sellers, who sell coins, bullion, etc..
Also my understanding, is paypal will always be allowed, but it too, will be integrated, as almost every buyer on ebay at the moment is familiar with paypal, so how does ebay plan do deal with people who only want to buy with paypal.. And as a seller, am i expected to pay paypal fees, and ebay managed payment fees on the same transaction..
And is ebay ready to change the transaction fee, on multiple purchases.. for example.. whether i have 5 items in one sale or 1 item, ebay is only handling one transaction, so why should we as seller's have to pay transaction fees on 5 items.. that is not fair..
Would love to hear some real answers that make sense, as opposed to the candy coated stuff..

Hi @esclyons - a number of these questions are ones I will not be able to address, but here are answers to those that I can:
Managed payments is a phased roll out and has always focused on including members who's business would be impacted least by the program in order to make it a simpler adoption.
PayPal is a payment option for buyers purchasing from managed payments sellers right now, and has been for several months. Buyers who only want to buy with PayPal will be able to continue to do so. Sellers in managed payments do not pay PayPal fees if that is the way their buyer chooses to pay, instead they pay the managed payments processing fees.
There are no currently announced changes to the way transaction fees will work with managed payments.

Managed Payments is coming to the UK next.
Canada will get to wait. So business as usual on ebay.ca

so i am trying to understand why ebay is going to charge a transaction fee, for every item someone buys, it is all automated, so why the extra charges, to process a transaction.. that would make me as a seller ask my potential buyers to pay with PayPal, as i only have one transaction fee there?? sounds like a money grab.. Unless eBay is going to completely remove PayPal as a payment option, why would i want to use managed payments.. when it will cost me more, and i will have to wait longer for the money to come to me.. I personally can't see an upside to this new payment system.

The only upside is there will be more payment options for buyers but I really don't think that will increase sales because eBay's customer base is shrinking due to constant site glitches, problematic search engine and a complete lack of advertising.
Managed Payments is for eBay's benefit not the sellers.....

Hi @esclyons - I want to clarify something that may be misunderstood:
As a seller in managed payments, you would no longer have payments sent to a PayPal account. This is regardless of how a buyer chooses to pay.
Instead you would provide a bank account and payments from your buyers would be sent there regularly.
As to the per-item fee within managed payments that's not something that I can discuss. I do know that it was brought up in the recent Town Hall, if that's something you wanted to review.
Thanks!

Hi Tyler, regarding Managed Payments... how does it work with sales in US $ made on .com? I do not have a US $ account, so eBay won't be able to deposit payments in that currency...

Good question. I've been hoping for some hint of an answer to this ever since MP was announced. My hope is Canadian sellers will at a minimum continue to have the ability to list on ebay.com or any of the International sites as is the case today.

Hi @lady.stark & @kawartha-ephemera - I don't have details on that right now, but I know as the program expands and we see it come to Canada we'll have more information at that point in time.
Thanks!

"What does it mean to have eBay manage payments?"
For me it means I am forced to give banking info to eBay and allow eBay to manage my $ from my eBay sales and have complete trust in eBay to manage all of this correctly....and since I don't have that much confidence in nor do I trust eBay that much, what it really means to me is that if PayPal can not be used without having to opt into MP, then it will be goodbye eBay; I'll be outta here!

I know I almost quit a few times in the past, but still stayed and navigated through the different changes made on the site. But on this one, just like you, it might be the final nail in the coffin for me. I hope it won't be mandatory.
