EBay has started supporting chinese scammers

I have now been scammed twice due to trusting these chinese scammers. Now i know how they exploit the system...1 .your package doesn't arrive, 2...you message them with regards to your issue....3...they very quickly get back to you and say we will send a replacement right away...4...that package doesnt arrive, but then the unsuspecting buyer  realizes he is no longer protected, you can't leave feedback, you can't even contact ebay about them, 5...you message them back and they say thanks and smile at you, and your money is gone....poof......If a seller says they will send a replacement, don't believe them and immediately ask ebay to step in...and leave that negative feedback....

Don't blame eBay... never accept a replacement. File a Item-Not-Received claim with eBay. You have 30 days after the last estimated delivery date to open a dispute.

 

If it's to late for an eBay claim you can open one with PayPal. You have 180 days (6 months) after the date of sale to file a claim if the payment was made with PayPal.

 

Also, STOP buying from China. Focus on Sellers in Canada, USA, U.K, Europe and Australia. Exclude the rest and you should have a more positive buying experience moving forward.

i'm sorry but it's ebays fault that there isn't a system in place to nab scammers, i'm not even complaining about losing my money. what i'm the most angry about it that i cannot contact ebay and report them...so they continue to exploit this

You don't need ebay to address an non-delivery issue when there is paypal protection up to 180 days after purchase. My standing advice is to contact the seller on Day 157. And never accept an offer to replace unless the seller is someone you already know and trust and the item can be sent with tracking and delivered within the week.

 

The issue may not be Chinese ebay 'scammers' but the Chinese government allowing the export of illegal drugs which are being smuggled into Canada via lettermail, hitting the streets and killing people. There are long delays at Customs now in Canada due to mail being held for inspection. Until the Chinese government faces real pressure to ban production of toxic drugs for export, Canadians will wait for their Chinese merchandise ordered direct form the Chinese manufacturer while Customs agents do their best to stem the tide of overdoses due to fentanyl and carfenanil.

 

Don't blame the Customs agents, they didn't ask for this problem, they are simply responding to a situation which was not of their creation.

Help & Contact is at the top and bottom of each page. Pick whatever menu choices you need to in order to get a phone number to call. The details of your INR orders will still be in your archived orders.

 

And contact paypal to open your INR. Do it now. 

 

I have asked ebay to adopt an official position on the delays on incoming letermail from China. We are currently without a Staff rep at ebay Canada to reposed to user issues raised here but here is a thread I hope will be looked at soon. Add your voice to it if you like:

Slightly off topic.

 

A question I have been meaning to ask. PayPal 180 day protection policy. When does the protection start? Is it the date of sale or the date paid with PayPal? If a buyer was to purchase an item and then pay 3 days later, there is a 3 day difference between dates.

I would think it is from date of Payment using PayPal but I cannot find more on the PayPal site.

That is a very GOOD question.  There is sometimes a big difference between when the buyer actually paid and when a listing ended.  But then PP also applies to sales transactions everywhere and some are not "listings" just buying off a website.  

 

It looks to me like it starts from when a buyer actually PAYS.  Taken from section 13.2 here,

13.2 Eligibility Requirements. To be eligible for PayPal Purchase Protection you must:

  • open a dispute within 180 Days of the date you sent the payment – then follow the online dispute resolution process described below under Dispute Resolution; 

 

I take that to mean if the listing ends (buyer buys) on January 10, the buyer finally PAYS on January 12 with an echeque that doesn't clear until January 20, it is 180 days from January 12.
