Fraudulent Sellers From China - Buyer BEWARE

Knew it was too good to be true. I am a skeptic by nature. Was looking at a stainless steel range hood the other day, and just for the heck of it, I placed a bid. It accepted my $1.00 bid, then I was outbid, so I upped it to $11.01 and won the item. Now, these are normally $500+ rangehoods, and this was being offered with free shipping to Canada! You can just imagine my surprise!

But...........it was coming from China, and I knew right away it was a scam, and I hit the nail on the head. About 2 hours after receiving notice of my "winning bid" I get a fraud alert from Ebay that the item I bid on was removed and so is the seller. Huh, guess if these seller's see the item as a loss, they just disappear. Thank goodness I didn't pay for it yet, I always wait a few hours just in case this type of thing does happen. Oddly enough, I see the same item (exact same ad, and photos, plus many other similar) by different sellers who just joined ebay today!

Keep you eyes open everyone, and trust your gut.

The seller "disappeared" because eBay cancelled his membership, pulled down all his listings, and notified his bidders.

While it is still possible for scammers to start up a new account, eBay has been known to monitor and block new members with the same IP address as cancelled members.

In other words, there is a system and it worked.

Lets hope it keeps working, scammers usually think of other angles to take advantage of buyers.

I'm sure many are thinking of new ones we have yet to encounter right now.
