Driving nearing 20 miles to the local post office because the people in China require a signature is complete nonsense. Could see is it was valuable shipment but for pair of socks I spend 5.00 in gas to drive there and back. So my fellow rural Canadains think twice! Was even home to boot but won't release till you sign the computer screen.
EBAY should make the people in China aware of this I have tried and they dont understand, or get it or don't care.
So the price looks good , you have to wonder?

It's because the people in China are shipping by registered airmail. It costs them next to nothing to ship it that way. The only way to avoid the signature is by not shipping by registered.

As a seller, if the signature confirmation was as cheap in Canada as it is in China, I would always use it too.

Cant blame them, ChinaPost has high rate of lost items.
Why not pooling your errands and pick up when you have a more substantial reason to drive to town ?

While Canada Post has a deadline for pickups, having a chat with your counter clerk may allow you leeway.
For example, picking up your parcels bi-weekly instead of the next day.
If the clerk bends the rules for you, give her some chocolates at Christmas.
