Hello,

I have order from USA shipped by USPS .

The Tracking shows :

Arrived Shipping Partner Facility. This does not indicate receipt by the USPS or the actual mailing date.

The Seller used GoGlobalPost .

I'm wondering is GoGlobalPost & GSP the same shipping program?

Thank you

Appears GoGlobalPost is a variation there of. Tracking link and business details attached. Hopefully you can find further details on where your package "could" be.

I couldn't find anything either in their FAQ. I messaged CS department. Will see if I can get a response and will pass it on when/if I do.  It's been mentioned that eBay has been working on something similar for Canada. My concern would be how much additional time/cost and who the involved bonus parties would be before it reached the customer. Would there be savings for sellers by using something like this that we could offer? Did you see any difference to recent purchases for shipping costs? Higher/lower?

-Lotz

PS. In the help section it previously included a link with rates to Canada etc, but are Canadian buyers actually seeing any savings passed on by anyone using it? To date I haven't seen it(this new service) denoted for listings I've looked at.

PB /GSP does NOT NOT NOT repack shipments.

It would be a stupid and unnecessary expense.

The minimum wage in Kentucky is $7.25 an hour.

GSP service charge is about $5 per parcel.

Just think about the logistics.

Now.

Some sellers do not say on their labels what is in the package and rather than shipping undescribed diamonds, or fentanyl, or fireworks, those few shipments may be opened and checked.  But that is not the norm. Which UPS or FedEx or any other sensible carrier would do rather than endanger their business and possibly their employees.

Could we just drop this dumb idea?

I'm inclined to think that GlobalPost is more of a mail consolidation service along the lines of eBay International Standard Delivery than a DDP (Delivery Duties Paid) freight consolidation service like Global Shipping Program, although one of its offerings to Canada is a DDP service.

The website's FAQ section mentions that items sent to the GlobalPost shipping center will have customs forms attached to them, which is not the case for GSP items as they're not handled as mail between Kentucky and the destination country.

https://www.goglobalpost.com/faqs/

Fun fact: Both the Global Shipping Program and International Standard Delivery scheme are being phased out by eBay and being replaced by another forwarding service.

@marnotom!

There are, as of today issues(discussion posts) with US sellers trying to create labels to forward stuff using the Intl Standard program. Like whodda thunk it?? Anyone have the number for Ripley's handy?

From Global Post.

Thank you for contacting GlobalPost Customer Care.

They don't get repackaged, just processed and relabeled with the international information required to get to the country of destination

There was no answer in regards to the hand off carrier/courier.

Drum Roll.....The forwarding part.

When GlobalPost shippers are shipping an item to Canada, it will go to a distribution center that is spread across the US.  It will go to the nearest one to their location in a major city (Los Angeles, Chicago, Miami, New York/New Jersey, etc)  It will be processed and then given to USPS International Distribution Center so it can go through customs.  Once it passes , then Canada Post will be responsible for final delivery.

The Seller charged me shipping $ USD 25.00 for Item Value $ USD 400.00.

I paid the same amount for  EBay Standard shipping for Items under $ USD 100.00 ( I had 4 orders arrived in January ) .

This is what I was asking  " Is GoGlobalPost the same as Global Shipping .

The  USA Sellers have right to switch carrier .

When Item arrived damaged NOT Seller neither ebay  help with customs fees .

The Seller doesn't provide RSL , easy to Refund Payment to buyer as they get covered for that amount.Ebay close case and buyer  can't get back custom fees.

There is no trust anymore .

Thank you

@pansy19, were you charged customs fees at the time you made your purchase, or at the time of delivery?

Since eBay doesn’t collect import charges for items shipped by Standard or GlobalPost, they can’t refund them to you or help you get them back in the event the item has to be returned.

I know with items sent directly through the postal system, you can fill out a form for Canada Border Services, supply the appropriate documentation (receipts for item and the return/refund) and you can get a refund that way. I can’t imagine it being any different if a consolidation service is used and the last leg of shipping is handled by Canada Post.

...and the last leg of shipping is handled by Canada Post.

And Canada Post charges $9.95 as a service fee for collecting and remitting your import fees.

GSP charges ~$5.00 USD.
UPS was charging ~$25 when there were import fees.
If we are importing from the USA, under the latest iteration of NAFTA we have a duty-free allowance on $150 and a tax -free allowance of $40.
For the rest of the world the allowance remains a paltry $20.
Most of the import fees we pay will be sales taxes.

Re: GoGlobalPost

Hello Devon,

You may want to do some digging into this. By my read it appears the OP is being charged for custom processing/taxes twice. Once when they pay and again when it arrives at the door. I know there have been situations where buyers are being charged VAT tax or it's up to them that to prove that it was paid in advance. Difficult and cumbersome process when there is NO receipt included with the parcel to final destination. This is a major peril when there is an intermediary involved in processing.

For businesses they require a receipt for tax purposes. Proof is also required it something needs to be returned.

If I have interpreted anything incorrectly, my apologies.

@pansy19

PS. I believe you stated previous regarding these new programs that there could be multiple carriers involved in last mile delivery. This is why it is critical that buyers know prior to payment who is involved. Not after. Many of these last leg couriers do not have adequate resourses for all destinations in Canada. If the buyer knows it advance it will help them better in making any purchase involving these programs. (These issues(Customs/Last leg delivery service) was what caused the majority of the grief in the past for buyers that purchased using the Globabl Shipping Program and Intl Standard Delivery.)

I paid for First Class USPS . The seller  send item by ebay standard .

I didn't choose ebay shipping and I don't want to use it .

If seller choose to use USP , buyer has to pay brokerage fees to UPS .

If seller choose ebay shipping , doesn't pay fees and is full covered  for seller . .Esy to refund not loosing money , case closed .Buyer loose Custom fees.

The Seller shoud inform buyer before shipp item  about Service & Carrier they choose to use   .

The Tracking # is provided once label is created , and we can't do anything knowing what it comes.

The seller wasn't honest , did what is better for him/her. knowing  can't loose money.

If inform  before Item is shipped, order will be cancelled.

Ebay needs to fix this!
