Issues With A New Seller

I bought a large lot of vintage items from a new seller in Alberta on Jan 1/25. I paid right away & have heard nothing from them.  I have sent a few messages asking when the items will be shipped & for the tracking number.  They are not respnding at all.  I tried to put in a request for item not received but eBay says I can't open a request till Jan 31/25. A month seems a long time to wait especially as the seller is in Alberta & I am in B.C.

Not a problem, open the claim when you are allowed, they will not reply, you will be refunded.

Just send a message every few days asking for the tracking information to be posted to the transaction, if they do not reply it's a scam, but you will be refunded, just say on top of the timelines.

If the estimated delivery date for your order has passed and your item hasn't arrived, you can let the seller know by reporting that you didn't receive it.

That's the policy, that is how it works...

DO NOT ASK TO CANCEL, wait for the delivery timeframes then file a claim "Item not received"

Issues With A New Seller

I am not worried about getting my money back if it is a scam. I know I am covered. I really want the items so would not cancel the order. I just noticed the same seller has posted a few old stamps for sale for a lot of money. The lot I bought also had some older stamps included in it. I am just surprised that eBay allows a new seller a whole month time to send their item.

I believe the extra time has to do with the recent Postal Strike. eBay is allowing more time.

Issues With A New Seller

I finally got a reply from the seller saying that they had a break in at their home & the items are missing.  I at first felt bad for them.  But the funny thing is they are now selling some of the stamps that were included in my junk lot for big bucks. So I am thinking this is seller's remorse realizing some of the items had a higher value than they thought. If so that is very dishonest. I may have to report them to eBay.

They don't know how to cancel or refund me. I told them how they can do that from their end.

The seller cancelled the order with the reason being "Something was wrong with the buyer's shipping address" which is a complete lie. I know they are not being honest now. I was watching the stamps they listed & they even sent me an offer to buy them.

File a Buyer report, and shortly Sellers will not be able to use "Something was wrong with the buyer's shipping address" as it is being removed, due to this exact reason...

This sort of situation is why new sellers are not allowed to transfer buyer payments to their bank for 21-30 days.

Some have Seller's Remorse thinking they could have done better.

Some can't find the item.

Some don't know how to package.

Some are shocked by the price of postage, especially those who somehow got the idea that Free Shipping meant they would not be paying for shipping.

Some panic when they are not paid immediately and decide to ship only when they have the money.

But the funny thing is they are now selling some of the stamps that were included in my junk lot for big bucks.

Not selling. Listing.

& they even sent me an offer to buy them.

😄

Report an issue with a seller

To make sure eBay is a safe place to buy and sell, we have policies that members have to follow. If you're having a problem with a seller because they're not following our policies, let us know and we'll look into it.

Please tell us what you’re reporting
You haven’t received your item
You’d like to return your item
The seller isn’t responding to you, or you need to ask eBay to step in and help
You want to cancel a purchase
The seller has violated one of eBay’s policies

"seller saying that they had a break in at their home & the items are missing."

yeah, I'd not buying that "reason"...that seller is either a scammer or as mentioned had "seller's remorse"...

There are a lot of postage scammers out there ...see them all the time on FB Marketplace...so expect them to be on eBay as well...

eBay still has extended delivery windows because of the Canada Post strike. This might be why you cannot open a case until that date.

Is it possible that they have an extended handling time? If they don't have an extended handling time, you might get lucky if you talk to an actual CSR and point out that it is not a Canada Post delay, the item hasn't even been marked as shipped. Maybe they would be able to manually open an INR.

Worst case scenario, you will get your money back but have to wait until the case opened on the 31st reaches the deadline for you to ask eBay to step in. It isn't ideal, but it is what it is.
