Package was stolen from my door as the shipper didn't bother knock on my door[apt. building]

I was notified on my computer that  my package was delivered  to me. Immediately went outside, first downstairs to my post office mailbox. Found nothing in there[it is a locked room, only Canada Post has the key to it]...Came back to my place [passing my entrace door twice] and looked at the shipping details again, where I noticed that Intelcom [delivery service hired by Global shipping] took a picture of my door with the apartment number on it, with the package in front of it. Went outside the door again, was no package to be found! Meaning, somebody took it. I was home all day, but they didn't even bother to knock on my door! I live in an apartment building.... needless to say the package is gone. No one wants to assume responsibility for the incident. Can't call Ebay anymore, the Intelcom shipping company that was hired by Global shipping also will not refund me for the loss of money! Never again Global shipping by Ebay!

Open a Dispute in the Resolution Centre at the bottom of this page.

Include in the Dispute that this is a GSP shipment.

However, what is really happening here is that one of your neighbours is a thief or possibly that security in your building is terrible.

How did a random delivery person get to wander the building without supervision? Don't you have a locked mail room?

Report the problem to the superintendant. Report the theft to the local police. Get a report number -- but honestly they are unlikely to do much unless they have a lot of reports from your building.

You can make a claim on your tenant's insurance .

If you don't have tenant's insurance, this is why you should have tenant's insurance.

It is the responsibility of the recipient to have a secure place for deliveries. Apparently your doorstep is not.

You can also enquire at your local PO about Canada Post's new Flex Delivery. This is a free service (so far) and is like having your own PO box for deliveries.

Intelcom has a history in various cities with problem deliveries. They do a majority of the work for Amazon. It is important once you know you are expecting something with them to train them as to where to leave parcels and when to expect them to be in your area.  (Even a note on your buzzer to ring for deliveries can be helpful.) We've had parcels left on all 3 steps, different corners of the landing, in the mail box and in the flower bed. The instructions to put over side gate has never been fulfilled. Ring bell is working better now. but not 100%. You can try specifying when you pay for your order delivery instructions. This works best if it's written on the box. Not just on the label. No guarantees this will be done with GSP but a thought.

Original concept with unsigned deliveries was a place NOT in clear view. That has basically gone out the window with the volume of deliveries these drivers are doing. In Calgary their delivery window is between 9 am and 9 pm, pretty much Monday to Sunday. Varies where you are.

With anything ordered using GSP the standard delivery methods seem either Intelcom or Apple. If you have to use that program (sometimes you have no choice) try to monitor expected delivery and be home when it is scheduled to arrive. Sign up for the alerts to your phone for first method. This way you will know right away. Not when you check your computer from time to time. Or ask a neighbour if they know the regular drivers delivery time best guess.

As Femmefan stated file a claim with GSP ASAP.

PS. By chance does your building have cameras for the hallways? Maybe the culprit was caught on video? This is the reason why many home owners are getting doorbell cams.

I think Apple Express is only being used for GSP-forwarded items destined for large urban centres. I’m not sure how Intelcom is being deployed but I can’t see why your notes would elicit a different response from a delivery person handling a GSP-forwarded item rather than an Amazon shipment.

Re: Intelcom and eBay being limited help.

@311mainstreetantiques @marnotom!

The above posted suggestions are the only thing I can come up with to cover myself and others for any expected deliveries. This is why many buyers depend on accurate reliable  tracking. If they know where it is they have a better idea of when it will be where it should be. Now with  anonymous methods/carriers (generic shipping) in play its leaving buyers often totally in the dark. The Canadapost website is my goto when in doubt on anything travelling with CP. USPS for anything in the USA. eBay way down the list. In reality it's too bad when eBay announced extentions for tracked delivery they didn't also include non-tracked. If they did, it sure doesn't seem like it.

eBay buyers go by eBay tracking as a first resort. If they don't see valid info, many panic. If they are not familiar with the in's and outs of GSP, International Standard Delivery etc there is a major learning curve for where to look or even CP for that matter.

We report these problems regularly (See current discussion posts for the basic small variety of issues) but eBay has done very little to address them. From both the Buyer and Sellers perspective.  Cut to the chase, the buyer just wants their stuff. They don't want to have to file a claim or have to go through the process of purchasing over. This is just scaring buyers away from the platform when stuff is not happening like it should. Covid or no Covid.

Sadly or unfortunately these problems are probably going to get worse before they get better, as more stuff is being ordered online.
