Question about A Seller Requested Order Cancel

Good Day,

I just had an issue as a buyer which as not happened to me before and I'm not sure how to proceed.

I purchased 5 items (auction items) from a seller.   Once the auctions had ended for all of the items I submitted a single order to pay for them, and pay my shipping fees, and my importation fees.   (This was using the Global Shipping Program).

I paid via Paypal and then within 20 minutes or so I got a notice that the seller was trying to cancel the transcation based on the fact that 'Buyer requested shipment to a country I don't ship to.'  - Note:  Canada was clearly listed as one of the countries the seller would ship to.

The cancel request seems to only apply to one of the items I purchased (ie. not the full amount I paid) so I am not sure what to do.

If I go to the order in which I paid the total amount and request 'Ask to Cancel Order' will this give the seller the opportunity to cancel everything, refunding all my money plus my shipping costs and import charges?

Thanks for any input on this, I really appreciate it:

Jason

Question about A Seller Requested Order Cancel

Communication is important, and you should Contact the Seller through any of your purchases and ask if he knew he was signed up for the Global Shipping Program which allows non-US customers to buy from US* sellers while extending a strong Seller Protection policy to the seller.

If seller is in China, it sounds like from information provided by other buyers on here Chinese sellers have recently shut down shipping to Canada.

The seller has to be in the USA or the UK to use the GSP. It is not available to any other sites.

It is very likely that you are out of luck, that the seller is unwilling to ship outside the USA (and possibly not to Alaska, Hawai'i, or Armed Forces bases), and will ignore your message.

Since he only cancelled one of your items, he may just be confused.

Communicate.

Yikes....seller screw up.  I would message the seller and ask his/her/their rationale given you have determined that Canada is currently on their mail to list.  It may be a simple mistake, or not, but at least you will know for sure. If seller is in China, it sounds like from information provided by other buyers on here Chinese sellers have recently shut down shipping to Canada.

Depending on the sellers response you may or may not have much of a choice, apart from taking the refund and deciding if you want to leave negative feedback or not given this one is on them.   You can ask to cancel order, but since this is their screw up, I think its only fair they initiate the cancellation and take the rating hit.

Question about A Seller Requested Order Cancel

Thanks for the response.

It's a US seller actually but I can see they are fairly new to Ebay so I am thinking it's a genuine mistake where they didn't realize they had listed with shipping to so many countries available - still I've bought tons of items from the US over the years and never had this problem.

I was happy enough to just accept their request to cancel but in the details ebay said not to choose the 'Agree' option is I have already paid.

So I am just trying to ensure I do things properly so that I get my money refunded (plus shipping and importation charges).
