Let's try that again.
You bid on a 3D printer.
Was this an auction or Fixed Price listing?
- If this was an auction there may have been other bidders. Did you look at the bidding? There is a link next to the price on the listing.
The "fixed" price suddenly inflated to $500?
- There is a stupid type of "variation" listing that is often exploited by scammers. The photo shows something expensive (like a printer) but somehow when you actually try to buy you are shunted to another item which is much more expensive.
- The low advertised price is actually for something cheap-- a pair of earrings, or a sportscard, which can be shipped inexpensively even with international tracking.
- As a technodolt, I don't understand how this is done.
- Variation listings are meant for similar products but different colours or sizes. Sometimes different models of -- I dunno- spark plugs? cellphone covers?
Did you pay?
If you did, which seems unlikely, you may have to go to Paypal to get a refund quickly. If you need advice ask in this same thread.
Has the listing been closed by eBay?
You can Report the scam -- the link is on the listing at the right side near the Description.
You can't "name and shame" the seller, but you can add the number of the listing or the title. The number is near the Report button.
What sort of 3D printer did you think you could get for $42? If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
Was the listing then ended by eBay?
That means they spotted the fraud and closed down the scammer.
