Return a Refund to Seller

Item did not arrive in time so I got a refund. Now that the item has arrived how do I return the refunded amount to the seller?

Seller wants it done directly but isn't there a way through eBay?

Unfortunately, no.  You have to do it as a "send money" request through PayPal.

I have seen the suggestion for the buyer to buy another of the items and to include a note instructing the seller not to ship it. My seller didn't want that. He has his refund now, anyway.

From the seller viewpoint that's because ebay would be charging their fees (listing and final value) on the 2nd purchase (even if it is never shipped).
