Seem to me that item from China, sold on eBay often don't work properly or unsafe to use.

For example I bought a Xbox One power brick recently and to my surprised when it arrived it was much lighter than the original. Only 325gr the one that come with the Xbox One is more than double that. It look like the power brick but the empty version, hollow on the inside, probably just straight wiring. The Xbox One power brick is that heavy because what's inside actually is not only to power the Xbox but also to protect it and to balance power distribution.

I decided not to use this cheap thing from China, because I concluded it could damage my Xbox One. Strange enough according to PayPal the seller did nothing wrong.

Also before I bought ipad charging cable from China. I got the message on my ipad "this cable is not certified and may not work reliably with this ipad." That cable was deffective and not charging.

So because I save money buying from China, it could in turn cost me lot more if it damage my fancy device.

Why is this even permitted?

Re: Seem to me that item from China, sold on eBay often don't work properly or unsafe to use.

Because eBay is 'only a venue' and leaves policing up to members.

If it is too expensive to return items that are Not As Described, sellers who sell carp will keep on with their fishmongering ways.

However.

You have up to 60 days from purchase to leave feedback.

The most effective feedback is calm and factual.  "Counterfeit product. Not certified." for example might warn some future buyers.

More important much much more important are Detailed Seller Ratings, which you are asked to leave with feedback.

A normal pleasant transaction gets Five Stars.

If a seller's DSRs drop below 4.3 Stars, her ability to list and sell on eBay is greatly restricted.

The lowest Rating is ONE star. (No stars is a free pass).

It doesn't take a lot of ONE star ratings to restrict a seller. Especially since many buyers don't understand the importance of the Ratings. Only about 60% of transactions result in feedback. And in my experience only about 40% of those feedbacks are accompanied by DSRs.

So your ONE star rating will be much more effective than just feedback alone.

BTW, you can also add a Response to any feedback left, including the seller's for you. Responses of course should also be calm and factual.

There is nothing wrong with your iPad cable. That message your seeing is due to proprietary equipment techniques used by Apple. (apple is trying to force you into buying their own **bleep**ple).

And here is a wonderful example of why a Response should be calm and factual is the most effective.

Avoid vulgarity, personal attacks, CAPS, and exc!amat!on po!nts!!! in answers if you want to be taken seriously.

Re: Seem to me that item from China, sold on eBay often don't work properly or unsafe to use.

Xbox One needs approx 75W for navigation and approx 120W for gameplay, 375g power brick may be sufficient.

But I have seen 5V/1A chargers that could not provide 300mA.

Power bricks are hit and miss. Other chapter are rechargeable batteries from China on Ebay - overadvertized. I have several battery analysers and bought some batteries from China and the actual capacity was 4-15x lower than stated. Of course people buy 4000mAh before 2200mAh but US battery importer Tenergy 2200mAh rated as advertised, while 4000mAh battery was between 900-1100mAh.

On another hand there are Chinese manufacturers who will not sell to someone who resells on Ebay, they do not want their products here because it apparently lowers the value. China is interesting country, they can make dirt-cheap and they can make good quality, but usually not at the same time. One supplier once asked me - you want cheap or you want good ?

Yes something wrong along with this message the iPad is not charging. Also the end White plastic cap comes loose, exposing the wire welded on the tiny circuit board.

The seller sent me two extra one when I told him the cable was defective, all of them were not working. I bought a cheap one $5 "Not Genuine" at Wall-Mart and it's been working with no issues.

Re: Seem to me that item from China, sold on eBay often don't work properly or unsafe to use.

I agree more expensive usually means better quality, Genuine brand name product Made in China.

Manufacturing process is under close surveillance by Autaurized Quality Controls personal, with Chinese working Visa.

Factual: Work Visas of China (Z Visa or Employment Visa) are issued to foreigners who are to take up a post or employment in the country.

But as for the Power Brick, Usually you can buy OEM product that will do the job just as good as the original, even if it doesn't have a brand name. The key is Testing & Quality Control, Rocketfish OEM brand is a good example. They are cheaper than the genuine version, for the buyer who want to save money. A power brick made by them would be Heavy.

Left to their own devices they will cut corner to increase the profit margin with total disregard.

Factual: Unsafe wiring or the use of non approved electrical equipment can be deadly as it can cause shocks, fire or other electrical hazards.

Most eBayer can get caught, because we are always on the lookout for a good deal.

Yes, because the manufacturer was building them to WM's specifications. If they don't meet those specs, they lose the contract.

The poorly made ones are for direct sale and sale through dollar stores. Might be fine, might be useless, but the manufacturer only expects to get one sale per customer.
