Seller listing items which say damaged items will not be refunded due to insurance.

I've seen a few listings where sellers say something to the effect that because they offer shipping insurance Canada Post will be responsible for damaged/not working items and not the seller. I've always assumed shipping insurance is to protect the seller and not the buyer.

If an item is damaged/not working when it arrives can the seller prevent you from using Ebay Resolution to get your refund because they purchased insurance?

Anyone have any experience with that type of thing?

This seller appears to be a few frites short of an order of poutine.  They're either unaware of how the Money Back Guarantee works or they're trying to weasel out of handling claims of damage.

I'd give this seller a pass if you can.  Who knows how awkward they'd be to deal with in the event of other problems?

Was looking for ebay advice but now all I can think is how can I naturally work the phrase 'few frites short of an order of poutine' into my next conversation 🙂

Another thing to consider whenever you are attempting to make a claim with Canadapost is that their insurance covers lost/missing items with tracking much easier than situations of damage. Specifics attached in the following links. Late/delayed deliveries are all other ball of wax due to Covid with their own set of rules.

The seller is responsible to the buyer.

The insurance covers him, (because he bought it from Canada Post) but eBay (and Paypal) will require him to refund his customer.

NO RETURNS DOES NOT MEAN NO REFUNDS.

But pass this one by.

Negative and aggressive Terms of Sale are a hallmark of the bad seller.

A few frites short of a poutine has now superseded "a few ants short of a picnic" in my phrasebook.
