eBay advising sellers in China not accept sales shipping to Canada

I bought several low-cost items only to have most of my purchases canceled.  When I asked 4 of the sellers shipping from China, why they were canceling my wins, the sellers said that eBay has advised them not to ship to Canada.

I have contacted Canada Post who said there is no issue shipping from China and I then contacted eBay and received this response.   "It looks like that this is starting from May 24th, eBay wont allow any shipping from China to Canada due to some security reasons."

Can someone please explain why eBay is making decisions on behalf of the Canadian government related to shipping and eCommerce?  I'm also trying to find out the basis for their advisory.

If someone, more knowledgeable on Canadian import, is interested in pursuing this I have kept all the documentation.

Without evidence, eBay China is actually doing something illegal here!

I'm not familiar with Chinese commercial laws, are you sure about that?

Canadian law is only valid in Canada, although other nations may have similar rules.

For China to Canada issues Canada Post does share information with China Post and with SpeedPAK (which eBay is a partner).

...

China Post (https://track-chinapost.com/) tracked service information tidbits:

"China Post has serious shipping space shortage and bad delay. Coronavirus has cancelled more than 90% airline space to Canada."

Stats for tracked China Post packages for 2020:

China to Canada Average travel time: 61.2 days

China to USA average travel time: 52.7 days

China to UK average travel time: 40.4 days

Telling lies about another company is most likely illegal in every country, AFAIK.
Now if there's evidence to support their claim, then it's another story. But we don't get to see it...

eBay advising sellers in China not accept sales shipping to Canada

Hi all,

I am the original poster and I am simply looking for the source on which eBay is basing their advisory so I can assess the impact on my own craft products which depend on products from China.

Nowhere am I suggesting there is any deceit on anyone's part.  Perhaps misinformation which is why I started doing my own research.  I was hoping for clarification on eBays' part or perhaps they would even revisit their advisory.

I am concerned with the tone this thread has taken and if I have played a part in this, it is not my intent.

All I want to know is how long this is going to last and where can I get my own information so I can track this myself?

Getting accurate information from the Chinese government is.... difficult.

If your item is late, open an Item Not Received Dispute.

If necessary, do this in Paypal where you have 180 days from payment to demand a refund.

Time is money.

Here in BC, minimum wage is 24c a minute.

How much has time/money have you spent on this fruitless pursuit?

Hmmm not sure if you read the initial post but it has nothing to do with an item not received, a refund or getting information from the Chinese government.  I had nearly 10 auctions that I won cancelled because eBay issued a directive that Canada would not be accepting packages from China as of May 24th.

I'm trying to find why eBay issued such a directive to sellers in China, and what information eBay used as the basis for this directive.

I ordered two $100 orders from China one week apart. After paying with PayPal and about two days after each order the seller's in China advised me that China Post has suspended shipping to Canada and I was issued a full refund.

Why all this? Politics. It appears Canada's fall-out with the Chinese Gov't has repercussions and Chinese merchants are being blocked by their own gov't for sales to Canada. Sad for the small-time Chinese business trying to make a living.
