It's ok sacred, valve has been dying to find out who I am for ages. However he never replies to my many offers to go fishing...just the two of us 'buds'. But he loves to fish? (Something fishy about that.)

"Anonymity plus insecurity equals false bravado."
A creative writing teacher of mine penned that. Certainly a grain of truth to it.

In a Christian context...

Ephesians

5:11. And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness: but rather reprove them.

5:12. For the things that are done by them in secret, it is a shame even to speak of.

"someone else's personal information?"

http://www.boomspeed.com/qtippi/index.html

Don't see any personal info there other than photos. However if you are a buyer or a seller here - là-bas il est révélé!

Of course your information is revealed to those involved in a contractual Ebay transaction.

There is no correlation between entering into a contract with someone and posting on a public Ebay forum as far as entitlement to identity is concerned.

Their baiting you sacred.

I only have a private ID because knowing the methods of some people I have no interest in having my auctions on my selling ID become the target for revenge because I speak my mind in a chat room. It's happened to others and I won't let it happen to my selling ID. They're simply not worth it. As for darkness...hey if anyone thinks that because I have a private ID that I hide in real life....lol....they don't know me at all and would be very mistaken.

"There is no correlation"

What about posting your pic on the CTS board. Dosen't provide personal info so what's the problem? It's much easier to have a meaningful discussion if one can put a face to it. Wanted by authorities, could that be the reason not to?

"only have a private ID because"

Posting your pic on http://www.boomspeed.com/qtippi/index.html with the ID you are using here will give no clues as to your personal identity. Your reasons in post #650 for not, leak like a sieve.

No they have my photo. Well one, my lawyer had the others destroyed (I hope).

with the ID you are using here will give no clues as to your personal identity.

LOL…what part of identity don’t you grasp? A photo is equally a person's identity.

Your reasons in post #650 for not, leak like a sieve.

You would be incorrect. Eg: if you use your selling ID then someone could get a new ID and bid on one of your auctions. Now at this point they have two possibilities to use. A/ They could win the auction and now because you’re in a transaction, they can, through eBay attain your address and phone number. B/ They can win your auction and others auctions with new IDs and then give you a raft of negatives later to destroy your feedback. Both situations have happened in the US boards. You have to get out more. I didn’t just fall off the turnip wagon.

It’s sort of like someone who would say….oh let’s pick an idea…..they might suggest meeting someone at a restaurant or bar. Seems innocent enough doesn’t it. But….unbeknownst to one person the other person either has someone else there at another table with a camera or cell phone that takes photos and the next thing you know ……..your photo is on the web, or emailed to friends of that person and there is very little you can do about it. Nope sorry….some people are just too sharp to be taken in by things like that.

Have a nice day.

"if you use your selling ID"

Read my post #652 again, I didn't say selling ID. I said "with the ID you are using here" beginning with prior- ....................etc. Your eg. is correct if one is so paranoid. However not many will compromise another's auctions, naru'd is the result. Leave mine alone! LOL

Paranoia is only a finer sense of reality. People who end up saying “I didn’t think they would do that!” cannot turn back the clock and wish they'd had a bit of paranoia before it happened to them.

naru'd is the result..too late at that point.

I said "with the ID you are using here"….a photo is still identity, that’s why they have them on passports. Anyhow, I did post a photo in a thread, even if it was from the past, as others have done. You must have missed it. Snooze ya lose bud. lol

*clap, clap - ok, time for funny Christian joke*

One may not really see the humor in this unless you practice baptism by immersion a la John the Baptist, but nevertheless . . . picture it in your minds.

The country church was located so far out in the woods that there was no indoor plumbing. However, since baptism was such an important part of the church's life, they improvised by building a baptistry under the pulpit. When it came time to baptize, they would move the pulpit to the side, open the trap door, fill the baptistry with water hauled in by a large tank truck, drop some wooden stairs down into it, and string up some curtains.

The thick curtains were carefully hung on wires. One curtain served as a backdrop to the baptistry as it was pulled around in a circular position. The curtains were also arranged in such a waty as to provide a men's dressing room on one side of the baptistry and a women's dressing room on the other side of the baptistry.

The young pastor of this country church was to baptize his first two candidates--an elderly man and a very heavyset lady.

"Shouldn't we offer to help our young pastor?" asked one of the deacons. It was decided that the deacons would give special attention to the elderly man lest he fall on the slick wooden steps.

On the evening of the baptismal service, one deacon waited in the baptistry with the pastor, and another deacon carefully helped the elderly gentleman down the stairs. After he was baptized, the deacon in the baptistry helped him up the stairs and followed him back behind the curtains to the dressing room.

No one, however, thought to help the young pastor with the baptism of the heavyset lady. Excitedly, she stepped into the baptistry on the first step. The wooden steps, slick from standing under water so long, proved to be her downfall. Her feet slipped, and she promptly sat down on the top step. Then, one by one, she bounced down into the baptistry in the sitting position.

They claim you could hear her scream a mile away. Screaming and bouncing down the stairs, she reached up to grap the only object available--the curtains!! So down into the baptistry with the screaming lady came the men's dressing room and the women's dressing room!

There, visible to the eyes of the whole congregation on one side of the baptistry was the elderly gentleman in the process of getting dressed. He had already donned his longhandled underwear and was in the process of pulling up his trousers. He dropped his trousers to the floor and stood paralysed, staring as the surprised congregation. Then, he picked up a nearby chair and held it in front of him.

"Do something quick!" one of the deacons shouted. So, a thoughtful deacon ran to the back and turned off all the lights, thinking that the man would take the hint to get dressed in the darkness.

Five minutes later when the lights were turned back on, the man was sstill standing there in his longhandled underwear, protecting himself with the chair. The lady, still gurgling and bubbling in the water, was fighting the curtains. The young pastor, in shock, was standing in the corner of the baptistry with his arms folded and his eyes staring straight ahead!!!!! Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

I'm trying. . . to stick to the OP - positive & encouraging. I'm happy & blessed and that's what I want those around me to see.

One more before I go. . .

A little boy was asked the name of the first man.

He promptly answered, "Adam."

The he was asked to name the first woman.

He pondered long and hard and then suggested, "Madam?" Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

I thought that this was a Christian discussion. I see nothing Christian in bullying someone to give his/her identity just to satisfy someone's curiosity. I don't need to know anyone's name or see a photo to have a civil discussion with him or her. We know that the Prior participates in these threads when he feels compelled to say something. Perhaps instead of getting defensive, we should listen to the message.

It was so beautiful walking on the beach today. We saw two gorgeous bald eagles. So many of the tall dead trees that they seem to nest in came down in the Fall and Winter storms, I wondered if they were looking for a new place to nest. How magnificant these birds are in flight. While the ducks flap madly just a couple of flaps of those huge wings and the eagles have covered the Bay.

Lots of people were walking their dogs. There is a lovely golden retriever that wades the whole way of his walk with a stick proudly in his mouth. He looks so full of joy.

It was lovely and peaceful, and I just wanted to share it. Hope everyone's Sunday had a measure of peace and beauty.

Tougholdbird--nice to see you!

I watched two horses running in a snow covered field today and then rolling, throwing snow into the air...a huge explosion of white. Then they got up, shook off the snow and did it all over again. They accept their world, finding joy in the moment.
