Hi Christine! Yup my computer has issues--yesterday I couldn't get on to FireFox--it is okay today though. It told me I didn't have permission to download something that it downloaded while I was not on the computer!!! I would normally give a stern look to a couple of students I let use it, but they haven't used it in a week. Hope DS can get it staightened out.

Lucie--that is heartbreaking. Poor little girl.

Hi Nicki. You never run out of nice things to say.

prior although I'm not a big fan of Jack Van Impe, I do believe he is very knowledgable. He claims to have memorized over 7000 verses. However he was one of the year 2000 doomsday prophets. He was wrong. All the more reason not to put your faith in man but in God.

Having said that though, he was the one who helped me to understand when Jesus said that when the fig tree sprouts leaves the end is near. The fig tree throughout the Bible is referring to the nation of Israel. The sprouting of leaves was when they came back together as a nation after more than 2000 years. Jesus said that this generation will not all pass away before the end, meaning that some people who were alive in 1947 will see the end in their lifetime.

Bob I have no plans to build a fallout shelter. I have a different escape plan. I booked my flight on December 8, 1985 at approximately 8:00 PM.

Yesterday afternoon I spent a couple of hours visiting & helping the pastor & his wife provide a church service at the two nursing homes we have in town. This is something I don't look forward to - mostly from a selfish viewpoint - it's smack dab in the middle of my Sunday afternoon, but I realize that everyone else feels that way and the attitude is there that it's part of the pastor's job. Now, it would be downright ideal and more convenient for me if it was on a Saturday afternoon. I have to find a way to encourage others to join us...obviously, just posting it in the church bulletin doesn't work. Like I said, I don't look forward to this activity, but yet when all is said and done, it is still one of the most fulfilling things I do and I actually enjoy it.

One lady (she's new cuz I don't think I've met her before) pulled me down to hug me when I went to shake her hand. Then she didn't want to let go of my hand and wanted to just play with my hair!! 🙂 LOL!! Another gentleman just wanted someone to talk to. Some of them you don't get a response - but I'm sure deep down there's someone wanting love or just a few kind words. I would've rather stayed longer than go to a committee meeting - but oh well, other things need to be attended to.

I've neglected this over the summer - well, actually in the last year since having to deal with my mom last fall - but I think things are settling down and I'm looking at this volunteer form on my desk...:)

Most of those pictures are from that mission trip to Cambodia that she went on last Christmas. my personal favorite is 'for water' - they were digging a well for a village. Someone was ever on a foot pump pumping out the water while those boys were digging - she said at one point the water was up to his chin - it just makes me cringe when she tells stories. We are so fortunate to have modern machinery for excavating & lifting weights - and then you hear of the primitive methods - lowering those concrete well rings with ropes! Yikes!!!!

Too blessed to be stressed.

Good morning to all,

Ralph--it is very easy to say nice things to you--you are such a stand up guy.

Nellie, I would be very interested in anything you would care to share about the things your daughter found remarkable during her mission in Cambodia. It is so far from my world--a person in a pit looking for water--I used to grumble at having to haul water from a spring at our summer cabin. Sometimes it is very useful to have a reminder of how blessed we are in Canada.

When I think of your daughter, it gives me hope for this world.

Christine--I really have to take a computer course. I always blame the chemo--because you have a 10 year window to do that with the stuff they give you for ANL, but time is passing and although I am also older, I know a 90 year old who is a whiz--no excuses. I was once to technically able--I can't believe I got so far behind. I probably do have too much security. A loved one is responsible for security--I am not joking--when my sisters and I went to London, he hired a body guard for us. We were all terribly offended--my sisters are very independent women, I thought I was too--but BG was a real cutie, and drove us around in his Jag with bullet proof windows, so we got over it.

Nancy--have you had your dinner with the one glass of wine to celebrate yet? It must have been such a relief to finally see some improvement.

Driving around London with a driver in a Jag sounds fun! I wouldn't be too terribly offended either!

Nellie, your daughter is a wonderful giving person, you must be so proud!

I am thankful for living in Canada and for the nice temps we have yet again. 🙂

Have you hugged a senior today?

Some of our best friends are in their 80s. My daughter has adopted them as substitute grandparents and they talk about her just as if she were their grand daughter. They used to be our neighbours until they moved into town to be closer to doctors and the like.

My wife works as a care aid and one lady told her she was going to buy her a house, unfortunately she forgets things after about 10 minutes.

I read a reader's digest while in the Dentist chair today. In the joke section it said there was a man talking to his doctor after his examination and the doctor says, "I don't know for sure what is wrong, but it could be because of all the drinking." The man says "well, can we get an opinion from a SOBER doctor"?:^O
