Welcome to a place where Christ should be exalted and "Self" should be abased!!

Welcome to a place where the BIBLE can be discussed rationally, intelligently, and positively without unnecessary argument!!

Welcome to a place where prayer can be requested and encouraged!!

Welcome to a place where positive and encouraging thoughts from scripture can be shared in a caring and loving way!!

Welcome to a place away from all the arguments, recriminations, and negativity of the outside world!!

Welcome to a place of rest and safety!!

Welcome to a place where Philippians 2:3 is practiced: "Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves."

Welcome to this Christian thread.

(Please leave all aggression, bitterness, and philosophy outside the door and please wipe your feet before coming inside!!)

Read the Gospel of Judas last night, a writing from the second century AD and not of the same source (Quelle) as Mark, our first synoptic gospel.
Huge parts of the transcript are missing and it makes for a hard read. What stands out most of all is that Judas considered him well above the other disciples and a favourite of Christ. Given the date, no surprises here. To me, it appears Gnostic in terms of what it is trying to get across. You know thos Gnostics, always thinking they were a cut above the rest and could find "extra meaning" in the Gospels. Their the reason we only believe in one baptism.

Hi Susan--that happens to me too! It takes such a long time to post, I think it is lost, and post again.

Maybe we should start a new, easier to load thread?

What does everyone think? Susan

Hi Susan! I am conflicted. I know it is slow to post on, but every once in awhile, I like to go back and read the old posts.

That's very true too, Nikki. Lot's of inspiration in some older posts, so maybe we should leave it as is.
If i just remember it's slow, maybe I won't triple post.

"the foxes have holes and the birds of the air have nests, but the son of man have no where to lay his head"
(Matthew, KJV)

"I pulled into Nazareth, was feelin' about half past dead,
I just need some placewhere I can lay my head.
"Hey,mister can you tell me where a man might find a bed?"
H just grinned and shook my hand, and "No" was all he said.

Nazareth is a town in the US where guitars were made at the time of this song's writing(1968). Of course, it was Jesus's hometown.
When I hear this verse(1) of "The Weight" I always think of the scripture I have listed. It is a reminder of how hard Christ's work was; going from town to town with only occasional returns to Nazareth.
I like to speculate on what he did in Nazareth. Work, to earn money? Rest? Re-energize?

Susan, good stuff. Are you working on a paper?

By the way, I had no idea that is where guitars could have come from--very interesting. I look forward to more.

((((Nellie))))) hope all is well with you. I don't do a speck of what you do, and yet I think I know what you are talking about. One of my fears in joining a church was would I lose the connection I feel with God in the details? I cherish my time I have with this little church and the congregation, but I have to remind myself to set time apart and be quiet and alone. I can't seem to know what He is asking unless I do.

((((Kim))))) hope you are having a great time.:-x

Good night to everyone. Sleep well.

Well I do believe God had his hand in my week - and thank you for all your prayers.

I wound up having a wonderful talk with my brother. We cleared up a lot of misunderstandings and feeling we each had. I don't think this would have happened - except for a flat tire that my brother wound up having that morning. He's usually in a rush, and the flat forced him to slow down a bit... :-) Photobucket

((bears)) I firmly believe that 'events' we perceive as coincidences are actually 'God moments'. Everything happens for a reason.

((Nikki))...I'm back home in 3 days. Time has flown. I'm needing a holiday from my holiday ;-).

Hi there nikki

Was just thinking of you ...

Hope all is well ... 🙂

Strange times we are in ... so many problems affecting so many people ...

if there is no other thing that this world will remember me for ... I do hope that it is that I cared ....

and that I carried the message that truly He does love you... For God so Loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believevth in Him shall not perish, but hath everlasting life.....

I am truly thankfull that He does forgive sinners .... because He does forgive me.....

He longs to give to each person the very best that God can give ....and hold them... and forgive anything they have done wrong and then give to them everlasting life ..... and to spend eternity giving to them all the very best that God wants people to have ...

truly this is what I want people to know... He is very real and closer to each person.. more then you may realize ... but truly He does care ... He loved you enough to be cruelley nailed to a cross and rejected by His creation and then to suffer under the complete judgement of God for the things you have done wrong either against God or your neighbour...

God is love ...... can there be a statement by man that goes against this ...

God tells us just what we are like ... and then forgives us ... is this not love ? .... if not then explain to me what is love ....

On Novemebr 17, 1983 a poor sinner that had rejected His love and doubted His existance at 11:00 PM in the evening came face to face with this wonderful God... He told me of how far I had failed and then told me of how much He loved me .....

I bowed my will to Him , confessed how much I had failed and found out how much He loved me.....

I was there , He was there ..... where were you?

never question what happened that day......

nikki I did not mean that to you ... you have found Him and with me known that many will find His love ....

Thank you ((((Andrew)))). I am well. Enjoying my grandsons especially. When one was diagnosed with autism, it seemed devastating, but this child has a wonderful brain, and it is amazing to watch him learn. He came last week (he turned 5 earlier this month) to take pictures from our deck of the full moon rising over the water. That night was so beautiful, just laughing with him, watching him getting his "perfect" picture and although he is often distant, that night I got an "I love you Granny".

I thank God for November 17, 1983 11:00 P.M. and your wonderful experience.

I guess what still amazes me, that although I kept running in the opposite direction, God's love was there all the time.
