Welcome to a place where Christ should be exalted and "Self" should be abased!!

Welcome to a place where the BIBLE can be discussed rationally, intelligently, and positively without unnecessary argument!!

Welcome to a place where prayer can be requested and encouraged!!

Welcome to a place where positive and encouraging thoughts from scripture can be shared in a caring and loving way!!

Welcome to a place away from all the arguments, recriminations, and negativity of the outside world!!

Welcome to a place of rest and safety!!

Welcome to a place where Philippians 2:3 is practiced: "Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves."

Welcome to this Christian thread.

Truly truly God is good!!! and I love Westjet!!!

I will open the windows of heaven for you. I will pour out a blessing so great you won't have enough room to take it in! Try it! Put me to the test! - Malachi 3:10

I just find that when I'm faithful in the little things, He is faithful in big things!!! I know it says that it is more blessed to give than to receive - but maybe this is what it's meant to be - cuz the more I give, the more I am blessed!!

Praise the Lord!!! :):)

Re: A CHRISTIAN THREAD

Hi Christine! Sunny right now, but rain predicted later this week. No surprise there.
We have already hit a few sales, but I think my house and little garden are at maximum right now. My children are not interested in the things DH and I collect, so off to the Church fair the goodies will go.

We have been doing all we could to smarten the garden up a little. We were expecting our first visitor, but he has emailed. He has really hurt his back, so will come later. Meanwhile, my poor plants have been shivering in the breeze and I know we really shouldn't have hanging plants until May, but I bought 4 to hang on the new fence our neighbour kindly put up. He thinks we don't want to have to look at his vehicles and toys. He has so many, he has built a below grade garage, and an elevator to take them down. He says he will keep a couple of cars up, and probably his motorcycles. Our colours are all soft, even my garden (apart from the daffs) are in soft pinks & purples. The stone is gray, we left a lot of the wild and the new fence is a bit of a jolt. Also, we are across from the Junior High bus stop and I bet there are a few minds that are thinking it would be a great fence to graffiti--so I want to get plants in quickly so it isn't as attractive to the ummmm artistic.:-)

Have nice days, all.

Hanging plants in april!! Wow, are you lucky, Nikki.

As we go through holy week, i like to live it in my own "real time".
Sunday was Palm Sunday; the procession and hymn moves me to tears.
Today is Tuesday, so I ruminate on Jesus's cleansing of the Temple. He was so right to go after the monechanger's for bleeding the poor of their hard earned money! People who had come so far in order to make a sacrifice in the name of the LORD. Think of what the trip had cost them in time, energy and money to begin with. The stop at the moneychangers to buy a dove and to be charged extra must have been so hard. Jesus must have witnessed their fatigue and frustration. Imagine a family with children in tow, being asked to dole out more than was required after so much effort. how he must have felt! Too much, too much!!
Think of how the Sanhedrin reacts. Who is this man who has drawn so many crowds and just look what he has done! How do we make this mess right? What will the Romans do if we ignore his actions. We have to deal with this!
Jesus sees the walls closing in on him, as he knew they would.
...............and Holy Week continues.....imagine the sublte discomfort He feels, even after doing the right thing..............

Haven't we all had that feeling in the pit of our stomach, that unease about what is to happen and when? The knowledge that we have been true to ourselves but that we have really done it this time. Never has he been more human than today............

Re: A CHRISTIAN THREAD

Hi Christine and all,

It was a lovely warm morning, I was working outside without a sweater on, but the wind is picking up and the clouds are rolling in. Wind is from the South--some of our more spectacular spring storms are South Easters but other than rain, nothing much is forecast, so it is all good--but our lounge chairs look a little silly out there:-)
So glad you are getting a nice Spring day. I find these early ones real mood-lifts.

Susan, have to confess that Sunday morning, after a week of lots of babysitting two sweet but ummmm active boys, this old couple was exhausted and we slept in and missed church. We are such a small congregation that I try not to do that, but I did enjoy sleeping in. This week will be busy at church--all the Altar Guild is on duty, but the fun part will be decorating the Church at Easter. I am on coffee hour for Easter too--trying to think of something extra special to serve that won't send me in a diabetic tail spin (you would think at this age I could say "no" to myself). I will scatter chocolate eggs amongst whatever I bring and put vases of daffodils on the tables. I am looking forward to that. I feel so blessed to be able to serve this congregation.

Evening Liz & Nancy and whomever reads! Just got in after a graduation celebration - thought I'd peek in to say hello and see whats new on your end! Whats this weekend like for ya?
We plan on taking out all the lawn furniture and giving it a good washing before we stain it again, really needs it this time. I wish we could put flowers into the ground or hang baskets like you on your end! Soon though right? 🙂 Also counting on the weather so we an remove and replace a window, and that means cleaning out the garage! I can always tell winter is over when the garage is filled with stuffings from the season, last minute throw ins that need organizing big time now.

Having company over for Easter, and a mini egg hunt with family, baked a cool bunny cake and matching bunny cupcakes with the kids. Life is good, and I hope all is well on your end too!
((waves at everyone))

Re: A CHRISTIAN THREAD

Waving back at you Christine! It is so uplifting to read your happy posts. Your Easter plans sound wonderful. I remember doing a bunny cake when the kids were young. Your post brought back many happy memories.

We will be spending Easter morning with our church family, and then have dinner at DDs. There will only be 6 of us this year and that will be strange--but it will be relaxing too. It is just us, so we are going to BBQ.

Your garage sounds like our guest suite. That is where we throw everything.

Goodnight and sweet dreams to all.
