Hanging plants in april!! Wow, are you lucky, Nikki.
As we go through holy week, i like to live it in my own "real time".
Sunday was Palm Sunday; the procession and hymn moves me to tears.
Today is Tuesday, so I ruminate on Jesus's cleansing of the Temple. He was so right to go after the monechanger's for bleeding the poor of their hard earned money! People who had come so far in order to make a sacrifice in the name of the LORD. Think of what the trip had cost them in time, energy and money to begin with. The stop at the moneychangers to buy a dove and to be charged extra must have been so hard. Jesus must have witnessed their fatigue and frustration. Imagine a family with children in tow, being asked to dole out more than was required after so much effort. how he must have felt! Too much, too much!!
Think of how the Sanhedrin reacts. Who is this man who has drawn so many crowds and just look what he has done! How do we make this mess right? What will the Romans do if we ignore his actions. We have to deal with this!
Jesus sees the walls closing in on him, as he knew they would.
...............and Holy Week continues.....imagine the sublte discomfort He feels, even after doing the right thing..............
Haven't we all had that feeling in the pit of our stomach, that unease about what is to happen and when? The knowledge that we have been true to ourselves but that we have really done it this time. Never has he been more human than today............
