Canada is about to complete ratification of the TransPacificPartnership.
The name changed slightly when Trump dropped out, because it was earlier promoted by Obama.
This means that Canada will now have duty free access to goods manufactured in Japan, New Zealand, Mexico * and Singapore which have already ratified it.
Australia will also ratify it soon, which should change some of the concerns about their recent decision to charge GST/VAT on imports.
The treaty was specifically designed NOT to include China. However, it does include Brunei, Chile*, Japan, Malaysia, Peru, Singapore and Vietnam, most of which are low wage countries.
*Mexico also has ratified the treaty, but we already have NAFTA although I understand slightly different goods are covered by the TPP. We also have a long standing Free Trade agreement with Chile.
