morning all. Sherry my manager signed me up to take Leadership Competency development courses. He retires in a month. They interest me from an academic perspective, coming from a science and engineering background. BUT I neglected to tell him that there would be frost in a big ole warm place before I would apply for a position to manage people.

You don't ask an outlier to manage the masses.

Having said that, I find control diagrams and affinity models fascinating problem-solving tools.

The competencies we work on are

decision-making

problem-solving

influencing others

etc.

I graduate in April. I retire in Feb. 2017. Need I say more??

Marian, I don't know why they would send you on a course so close to your retirement.  I hope they don't have plans for you that you don't want.

Happy birthday to Paul.  Now I have a craving for Black Forest cake!

For Lent I have given up my favourite sweet beverage, lemonade.  My consumption was really get out of hand.  As much as it tastes tart it is just full of sugar.  I don't drink diet beverages because I hate the taste of aspartame.  Good thing too, from what I have been reading.  I am getting worried about my friend who drinks 3 diet Cokes a day.

The weather here is just awful.  It snowed on the weekend and today it is raining.  The sidewalks are a mess.  I have Pilates this afternoon and I think I will take a cab to the studio.  Last week my friend and I tried to take Tildy on a walk.  We had to give up as we were slip sliding along.  I wish some people would learn to clear their sidewalks.

Thanks Susan!  I am a very lucky grand-maman.  🙂

We'll find out later today if #2 grand-baby is a boy or a girl.  I don't mind either way, as long as the baby is healthy AND as cute as little Ellie I'll be very very happy.  🙂

Marian, good on you for taking another course, required or not, learning means always moving forward.

Susan, crazy weather here too.  I don't have dogs to walk any more, but Lucifleur Miss Flower gets about 129 miles worth of pacing every day, back and forth from feeder to feeder in the front window stalking the birds and the red, black and grey squirrels!

Claire, did you find out whether Miss E. is going to have a wee sister or brother !?  Exciting, either way 🙂   My little guy has been sick all week 😞  Hope he's better soon, he and mama are coming to Florida  with us.    DD will be moving into our house while we're gone to look after my her cat.

Janni, I'm sure everyone's going to enjoy those courses, interesting to all!  I don't know when you would find time to watch - what do you do, listen while you cook, and wear headphones while you sleep??!!  😉

Nan, do you freeze a lot of your berries to make stuff all winter?  I eat blueberries and tart cherries all year long, but nothing's like fresh summer berries, for sure.

Well, much to do, so little time to do it!  No muffins or baking or even diapers to change lately!

The weather here is cold and clear.  The windchill factor is formidable.

Nothing special for me today.  Work and a Pilates session.

Claire:  congratulations! 

HaHaHa ... I don't even own a pair of headphones!  LOL

Nope ... we watch two courses while we're eating dinner ... that way an hour a day for learning while we eat.  Josh says it's making dinner too long, but I think it will be be good all around ... we all sit together for another half hour just talking about our day, etc.

Cream soap is finally ready for the application of fragrance (essential oil) and perhaps a dash of micah colourant.  Then it cures for another couple of weeks.  It turned out really nicely.  Cream soap is the most difficult of all the soap styles to create ... that's why there isn't much of it in the marketplace.  The biggest challenge is the shelf life thing ... if it gets too much hot/cold temperature variance ... it will separate some.  It does not affect the use, but it doesn't look as good.  Ah well, it feels wonderful on the skin and the cream is perfect for a facial wash ... then the toner and it still feels good ... then the lotion.  I'll use the regimen myself for a month or so before I OK it for sending out.

The cake was delicious!  Paul was happy with his day!

hey ho everyone and a happpyyyyyyyyyyyyy friday.....yippeeee, my hunny comes home and I am off to a wine-tasting event tonight, before he arrives. 5 hour drive to Halifax from Freddy-town plus dinner and pit stops.....should see him by 2:00AM.

omg!! I can't believe this is back! This use to be my favorite coffee break(about 6 yrs ago), then I went back to work, so I did not have time or energy for it. I stopped by a few times over the last year but did not see many familar faces, so I didn't stick around. I'm not sure what made me stop by today, but I am glad I did.  It is nice to see some of you 🙂

I'm packing Paul off for another week as well.  Alex just got home tonight ... the schedules change all the time, it seems.

Everytime Josh mentions that he is finished highschool in a couple of months ... it takes me by surprise!  LOL  I know it shouldn't ... but he still seems so young!  His pictures came in today (well, the proofs) of him in a cap and gown ... he didn't even comb his hair ... so he looks a bit wild in the shots.  LOL  Ah well, that's how he usually looks ... he figures bed head is a good look for him.  Alex was not impressed at all ... he figures it should have been a bit more formal ... Josh thinks his Dad is being silly.  LOL

Made a veggie stir fry today ... baked fresh bread ... made home-made ice-cream (chocolate/coffee/hazelnut) ... made yoghurt, cream cheese and non-dairy kefir ... and cleaned up the kitchen ... well, the cupboards needed a good clean out and that got me started.  The day was over before I knew it.  Josh did his laundry and Paul helped with the vacuuming ... one of those boring days ... it all looks nice though.

Packing and trying to get the house back in order, we leave Thursday morning,  Hopefully the storm will be pretty  much cleaned  up by the then; DD is taking us to the airport, ( and housesitting),  and we'll meet up with other DD and baby who are going with us.  What a great vacation to look forward to, 2 weeks with my baby, and then, sadly, two weeks without, when they fly home half way through.
