I had a buyer falsely claim that their purchased item was defective. I reimbursed them and they sent the item back. I have since resold the item. Now I would like to get the transaction off the list of feedback that I need to leave, but the only option seems to be to leave positive feedback, which I am loath to do. I don't want to be constantly reminded of this transaction that went south. What to do?

There is no way to get the transaction off list of feedback to leave unless you actually leave feedback. You can't leave negative feedback in terms of clicking the red negative option (the way sellers can) so you would have to click the positive but you could still write something (ie. buyer was difficult to deal with) just be careful not to be too insulting as anyone can see what you write. Myself I wouldn't bother to leave any.
If you decide to just not leave any feedback, it may be annoying to see the reminder you need to leave feedback but it will eventually (after 90 days) no longer be there for you to see. In the past when I've dealt with a difficult buyer I don't leave any feedback but I do block them. I can't help but think of the the expression if you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all.
I'm not sure if the buyer left you negative feedback in which case definitely put your response to the feedback to explain it, but if they haven't left you negative and you got the item back and resold it I would just leave it be.

You are not supposed to leave a negative comment with a positive feedback so it's usually best to leave nothing at

As sellers cannot leave negative feedback and/or any negative comments on a positive rating, maybe just not leave feedback at all, put that transaction behind you and move on...

Who do you think is going to read it?
Not eBay.
EBay does not use FB to assess member accounts.
Not the bad buyer.
They got their money back.
Not other sellers.
Over 85% of transactions are Fixed Price or Buy It Now and sellers only meet their customers when they have already purchased.
The reader will be your future customers.
And what will they think when you slag off another buyer?
Just put on your big girl panties and ignore it.

Thank you for your response. I can surly wait the 90 days for the feedback reminder to expire and disappear. Yes. I strive to make my ebay activity a positive experience and I realize that challenges will occur from time to time. I believe that most people are good and there is nothing much to be gained by engaging in negativity. Moving on...
