Staying on the "Confirmed" address stuff, I still cannot get confirmed and I have made sure that my address that PayPal has is exactly word for word the same as my credit card on file. So, having said that, I have not noticed any Canadians with a confirmed address, only other countries so far. If there are, they are extremely lucky it worked. LOL 🙂

Thanks Amanda, I understand that while Paypal does not remove money without a specific request at this time, what I read when I signed up was not worded that way. For this reason, my Paypal bank account is soley for Paypal and nothing else. Keeps me protected.
Any answer to my 2nd question yet? Or are you looking into it?
Thanks

Hi blackpantz,

We’re currently working on a solution to extend protection coverage for our Canadian sellers and hope to launch this in the near future.

Meanwhile, sellers should know that they can present evidence to dispute false buyer claims. PayPal supports the interest of both parties through its Resolution Center which helps buyers and sellers come to an agreement.

If the buyer and seller fail to reach an agreement, PayPal will evaluate the information provided by both sides to attempt to reach a fair decision.

To ensure that any dispute regarding the delivery of a good can be resolved quickly, sellers should use a shipping service that provides delivery confirmation. Even if the buyer files a chargeback with their credit card company rather than submitting a Resolution Center claim, PayPal will use the seller’s proof to dispute the chargeback with the buyer’s card issuer and attempt to get the funds back to the seller. If PayPal is successful, we will deposit funds recovered to your account.

What evidence is acceptable? I have heard of buyers recieveing an item, leaving positive FB and even emailing the seller to thank them and then claiming non-receipt with paypal and getting their money back even after the seller forwards the email and refers Paypal to the FB left. What gives? I guess it reverts to my question #2 again.. sorry if I am impatient but I really would like an answer as I am sure many, many others would as well.

I am a verified business user with a confirmed address. Is there any reason why ebay shows me as unconfirmed when I pay for an item through the auctionpage or through items won on my ebay page?

If I pay through PayPal by clicking send money and then pay for ebay purchases, I show as confirmed.

Oh sorry ... I didn't clarify my last post. This is in regards to sellers sending to buyers who are either unconfimed and/or did not use a shipping method with online tracking.

Like jesdifa stated in post 42, I also use a bank account that is solely for PayPal to limit potential abuse. I feel fairly safe with this set-up. Becoming verified is something I would like to do, but using my credit card concerns me. Reading the post 41 and 47 makes me wonder if I should even consider becoming verified. Is does seem that we Canadians are somewhat 2nd class citizens to our US counterparts.

I believe post # 37 actually meant to ask about the seller protection policy and not the buyer protection policy.

I agree that post # 37 is asking about the seller protection policy and how it applies when shipping to a Canadian Verified Account.

"other than GST, can PayPal also add PST when buyer paying?"

To accommodate both taxes, users may choose to add the two tax items together. There is currently not the ability to separately enter GST and PST.

PayPal Workshop: Thursday, March 24, 1:00-2:00 PM ET

There were a number of posts on confirmed addresses.

Currently, PayPal confirms addresses by validating the credit card billing address with the credit card company.

Unfortunately, the mechanism used to validate addresses is not well supported by Canadian credit card issuers—as opposed to in the US, where it is well-supported.

Therefore, even if a buyer enters their credit card billing address, we are not always able to validate the address with the card issuer.

In these cases, the address cannot be confirmed using the existing methods.

To overcome these limitations, we hope to introduce new and innovative means of confirming Canadian addresses in the not-too-distant future.

We definitely appreciate the community feedback on the price of online proof of shipping for packages sent to US buyers.

PayPal is evaluating shipping solutions for Canadian sellers that will expand the ways that sellers can provide ‘proof of shipment’ in a manner that is efficient and cost effective for both sellers and PayPal.
