This sounds like a nightmare, I really hope that Want it Now will not be in the main catagories or I wont be buying on eBay any more. I already dislike the Multipul listings sellers do in Catagories already making it not fun, but if I have to skim through Want it now? Forget it.
I wont be around 4-5 PM EST because I am gone during that time but if Want it Now is in the main catagories (search or no search) then consider dropping this idea because it will kill eBay. Unless you add a "Wanted" up right by Buy & Sell or have it in a area all by itself.

want it now is sorta stupid..i see so many ppl asking for (lets say) xboxes while all they have to do is search under xbox..
not the smartest ppl if you ask me.
Want it now is great for hard to find items or parts of items that ppl dont really dare to sell
examples:
A lost TV remote.
Instructions for this or that.
etc,use your imagination.

And EBAY didnt come up with the idea..they took it from another auction site i know of.
Maybe this option was popular so they decided to copy it.
Just like IE is copying mozilla firefox.

I see the 'Want it Now' venue as nothing more than a marketing ploy by eBay to attract more listings. It was an excllent marketing plan for eBa; it does little for the sellers who support eBay.

As sellers, we are supposed to 'crawl' through endless posts of want ads. When we see something we have, we're encouraged to immmediately list it (money for eBay) in hopes that the seller will purchase our item (more money for eBay).

Why not come up with a better marketing plan that actually encourages sellers to list?

It is funny how eBay thinks.

If they lowered the listing fees, I would list more. If they raise the listing fees I sell less or not at all.

I guess the people at eBay are the same people that say a Tax cut in the USA was a bad idea, yet it brought their economy out of a recession caused by 9/11! Hmm maybe hire some Conservatives eBay, they'll make you more money instead of democrats that nay say and think you make money by raising the fees. Sam Walton would disagree with that.

Doubt it, they might own it but I betcha they have no say in what eBay does ever since they went public. Since eBay going public they have gone down hill and not up.

Nan - how do you ever find time to even look at it? I have gone there once or twice and decided not to even bother.

So many of the posters say things like, Help me please!

Then you have to read the post to find out if you're interested or not.

oh wait, that's on CTS

Want it now is much the same.

I just type in something I have for sale. And see if anyone wants it.LOL
For example-plus size clothes,I type in 3x and if anyones looking for something in that size it comes up.
Easy and quick.I hit the response and copy and paste the listing number and that's it:)

Want it Now is good in theory but if all it is, is ads saying "Need a pioneer remote" it is useless. Yeah you need a pioneer remote, so! Wanna tell us what remote you need or are you a pioneer remote collector? Detailed Wanteds are ok, but vauge ones are a waste of system resources and everyones time. Just like Auctions that dont tell anything about the item or S&H and payments.

Well, I'm quite sure that I won't be here for this discussion on Friday, so I'll post it now so Carly can see it.

I LOVE the idea of Want It Now, because I'm looking for pieces in my mother's china pattern. It's something that is very hard to find, but if sellers know I'm looking for it, then when they find pieces at say, a garage sale, they'll know they'll get a sale from me.

What I've mentionned before is that I would like a feature where I could post a picture....kinda like a listing. That way, I could SHOW EXACTLY the pattern I'm looking for. The only responses I got were from people who had pieces of the same company, but not the pattern.

If I could say "This is what the pattern looks like.." with the picture...

and then say "This is what it's like from behind.."

ooops! Clicked wrong button!

Anyway, if I could do that, then I would not get emails of people sending me notices of a different pattern.

I sure that this could help with people who are looking for other specific items.

Anyhoo, all this to say...I want to be able to post pictures.

Have a good discussion, folks!

I think Nan has the right idea...easiest way to see if they want what you have, and it is almost a sure sale!

There are just SO MANY listings in WIN, it is hard to find time to sift through them all.

Hi Carly

I must admit, I don't frequent the WIN. When it first started on .com I checked it out. But, after a few days, there were a zillion items, often with dumb descriptions like 'Please help, I want...'

I gave up.

Is there a way to make the buyers be more specific in their requests?

Hi Carly,
I agree that most users do not give enough info in their WIN posts and are being far too generic. Most of the posts are rather useless.
