I was just at the post office and the teller told me that express post to India is taking 5 weeks. To send a regular letter from Calgary to Newfoundland will take approximately 3 weeks. I asked why and she said that reduced air travel due to Covid is leaving mail just sitting idle.

My question is why did Ebay remove the seller protection for late shipment defects as of October 1 when the mail systems of the world are still so slow and as the second wave hits it is just going to get worse. I find this concerning and perplexing? Perhaps you tell us how Ebay plans to protect sellers in this environment.

Hi @dr.note - we're in regular contact with major couriers on their delivery times and work to provide buyers with an accurate estimate of shipping times based on the stated service you choose when setting up a listing.

As to the future, I can't do much prediction on what will or won't be done as we head into flu season and as countries begin to (or continue to) contend with the outbreak and spread of COVID-19. I can say, however, that we will work hard to make sure your selling reputation is protected. I'd encourage you to keep an eye on our Announcements page, as any COVID related protections would be announced there.

Thanks, and stay safe!

Re: November 11 2020 Weekly Session

I am registered to collect GST/HST on all transactions

All eBay fees and that includes FVF... must be included in the monthly invoice where the GST/HST amount that eBay collects is indicated.

Managed Payments works for me because the GST/HST is indicated in the monthly invoice.  This amount is part of an Input Tax Credit  that I subtract from the total Tax collected  on all transactions.

The Managed Payments that I use is more than acceptable for me and should ...not ... be changed

Managed Payments….Information for Canadian Sellers

Available for a payout…..The following is  information from eBay Canada

“Available funds: The amount you will be paid in your next payout. Generally, funds that appear Available are the total of all completed transactions, excluding applicable fees or any transactions on hold.”

The wording … excluding applicable fees …..  is not correct for Canadian sellers that will eventually use Managed Payments on eBay Canada

On eBay Canada Payouts only contain the total for item price plus shipping.... No FVF is deducted before the money is sent to a seller's bank account.

_____

Admin-edit: the struck-through information is inaccurate for managed payments sellers on eBay Canada.

Howdy @cumos55 - I wanted to clarify a few things for you that have come up recently that may have led to this confusion.

Managed payments does collect the FVF and processing fee prior to the payout being made. That is how it will work for Canadian sellers and .com sellers alike.

You will still receive an invoice that lists out the charges you received within your billing period - inclusive of any FVFs that have already been collected. From an accounting perspective, the invoice will still be a comprehensive list of the fees you've paid within that period, but the only money collected from that monthly invoicing would be things that weren't already collected (like store subscriptions, taxes, etc).

As I've mentioned in email to you, your account was missed when activating this feature which is why you've seen something different on your account until last week. This has been corrected and you will begin seeing your FVFs withheld from your payouts as the rest of sellers in managed payments current experience.

We have a monthly tax invoice (really a report) that shows tax paid on each order. This can be viewed in the "Taxes" section of the payment tab either as a summary pdf or in detail as a CSV. Because your account was not properly activated as it should have been, you may have been unaware of this feature. Additionally, because your account is newer to this process it may not yet have any info there (since it's a monthly report).

I know this has been a common topic of discussion, but I want to be clear that your experience in this program so far has been unique, is not the way things should work in payments, and has been corrected.

Thanks!

Markdown sales STILL not working on dotCA

Apparently it's a known issue... this is extremely frustrating since this is prime selling time right now.  I'm assuming none of them are going to work for Black Friday sales either. .  wonderful.

When features don't work, maybe store subscribers should get a discount since we can't make sales without a ton of extra work to 'manually' mark down prices (and still don't get the benefit of it showing the %off in listing).

Any idea when this is going to be resolved?

Hi @motomike_canada - I don't have an update on this one, but I'll see if I can find out or get some extra attention on it.
