Trying to update my payout method from a Tangerine chequing account that is closed and I no longer have.
Log in with my Scotiabank credentials and get the error "Sorry, we are unable to connect to your bank at this time. Please try again later."
Enter details manually, exactly with the transit, insitutuion, and account number confirmed multiple times with Scotiabank. Get the error "Invalid Financial Institution number or Transit number. Please try again." no matter what I do.

Are you trying to do it for an account on dot com or dot ca?

dot ca. I go through the whole Trustly thing and pick Scotiabank. It even gives me a push notificaiton to confirm it's me in the Scotiabank app, shows my account, but then I get to the final step fails and get the "Sorry, we are unable to connect to your bank at this time. Please try again later." error

Just called Scotiabank again. Had an agent go through activating and deactiviating 2 step verification on my Scotia account to see if that would work. No matter what, linking the account fails. Scotia informed me to contact either Ebay or Trustly about this.

Scotiabank institution number is "002"
Transit number/branch number is 5 digits. If your bank transit number is only four digits long, add a 0 in front of the number.

I'm having this same issue. I went between my RBC customer support and ebay support like 10 times now. Each person says it's not on their side.

As @ypdc_dennis posted some months ago.

Cannot verify my account through Scotia bank, rejects the account number, 5 digit transit.
Did not receive micro transactions as of yet. Any fix? Same account for years.

It should be canada based. I live in Canada and opened a bank account here in canada. My transit number is 5 digits long and it does not work.
checking this reddit post, a similar problem seems to have occurred before. https://www.reddit.com/r/Ebay/comments/1cniz8h/solved_canadian_banks_with_ebay_issue/
I do not want to open another bank account. Is there some way to use these funds I acquired to purchase stuff on ebay and basically zero out my balance?

I have a too much sitting in my payout funds to abandon my account. Opening (and paying for!) another bank account isn’t a solution.
I believe (don't quote me) that if you open a new bank account that's strictly for eBay use, you can claim the fees on your income tax as a business expense.
