About Feedbacck Left for Others and the new Follow-up Comment design.

Is this ability to follow-up on a previously left comment totally new or was the feature always available but well hidden?

Any ideas of good (or bad) uses for this feature?

Follow-up link is found on the Feedback Left for Others tab.

Clicking the Follow-up link opens this ...

Re: About Feedbacck Left for Others and the new Follow-up Comment design.

Feedback followup and reply was always available but it was a pain to get to the place to leave it.

Generally one would leave follow ups after receiving a response to a feedback from the seller.

For example I leave a neutral, the seller responds and then I can follow-up to that.

I saw a couple days ago that they made the "reply" to feedback directly available from the feedback page, no more having to bookmark the place to go to leave it. Presumably they've done the same thing with followups now too.

Not sure that's so good, I assume we'll see more followups now when we respond to a feedback left for us....

There are a few, at least in my world very dedicated feedback followup folks that respond to all the feedbacks left for them.....

We've always been able to reply, respond to any feedback a buyer left for us. This new design allows a follow-up to feedback we left for others. In a way we'd be replying to ourselves.

Was this possible before now? If it was, then I've been oblivous to the possibility all these years.

For example, now if I chose to do so, I could leave a "Thank you" upon receiving an order, then at some later date follow-up my own previously left feedback with "Shipped on February XX".

I assume both buyers and sellers now have the ability to do this.

I guess I should have been more concise - it was always available it is just more accessible now.... (although I've never left a followup feedback other than when replying to negative and neutral feedbacks, so I wasn't sure it was possible to leave one against our own until now!)

It would interesting to know if there is still the possibility either by eBay or for the seller to request removal of followup feedbacks. Or can it happen by the bots automatically? Miss a message, lose the gist.

That's a good point, the possibilty of encouaging angry buyers to leave multiple comments might not be so good for sellers. Thankfully the demographic I deal with are a pretty level headed group so I almost never respond to buyer feedback anyway. Guess that's my excuse for not knowing this follow-up thing has always been available.

Re: About Feedbacck Left for Others and the new Follow-up Comment design.

I read that .com thread Lotz posted. The strange behaviour I've been experiencing lately on the leave feedback page I guess is connected to these follow-up changes. For the last while it's been a toss-up whether my saved custom feedback was there or not, it was missing quite often requiring a page reload to fix the problem. Yesterday thar page loaded in French! No custom content loaded though lol.

Yes I very much miss the autofill capability. I had about 20 standard feedback variations, the "new improved" ebay version that makes it better only for folks who didn't have autofill capability only has 10 so I am very much more limited than in the past. Just another annoyance to endure....

Re: About Feedbacck Left for Others and the new Follow-up Comment design.

Annoyances keep multiplying it seems.  Another one recently added to the list is the invoice/packing slip which has been available for many years. It has become a somewhat regular occurrence for that request to produce a document that contains no order info whatsoever, just the seller and buyer address is included. To top it off the addresses are served in a very large font.  After printing out a bunch of those a few times I now scrutinize what is to be printed very carefully. Repeating the request generally retrieves the missing information.

They must be fiddling with invoicing behind the scenes. I'm half expecting the existing invoice/packing slip to disappear any day.

Thanks for the link to the chatter on .com, Lotz. That whole thread is a massive b*tchfest about how ebay keeps making useless changes for sellers, instead of fixing bugs for sellers. Glad to see I'm not alone in my frustrations!

Being in retail for many years I welcome this ability to add more to feedback. Turning a negitive into a positive is great for business.. now we can leave an empathic reply and sound professional if theres a negitive reply to that then you leave a fact based reply and that's all that is needed. Customers know that mistakes happen it's how you handled it that matters the most..
Here's the opportunity to show that.
