So I'm trying to do a listing for a coin, there's two photos to upload. I have tried clicking on it to upload from computer, and tried dragging and dropping. It tends to accept one photo, and then minutes late the other hasn't loaded, so I refresh, then both photos are gone, and I've repeated this process at least a dozen times on one little listing for a coin.
The fact that photos aren't loading when I'm creating the listing is making it take significant time for me to do these listings because all this time is wasted on uploading photos.
I do my eBay Canada stuff on the site, I do my dot com stuff with SixBit. I'm not really computer savvy to be reloading databases so I haven't tried to do my .ca listings with SixBit yet (too afraid I won't be able to reload my dot com stuff which is 11K in listings).
Is anyone else having these big delays with uploading photos? Nothing else I do on the internet takes ridiculous amounts of time like creating listings... so I would say it's the server (which sometimes co-operates and works well), not a user issue.

I just added a listing from scratch. I had none of the issues you mentioned. The photos were uploaded quickly.
What computer are you using? Mac or Windows? And what browser (Edge, Mozilla, Chrome)?

It doens't happen all the time... the last few listings I created (since this post) the photos uploaded while I finished the rest of the listing. It's that sometimes they aren't uploaded by the time I'm doing making the listing which seems really slow. Other times they have loaded very quickly.
I'm using Windows (11) with FireFox as my browser.

I am using Windows 11, Edge browser. I used the "Upload from Phone" option, and that goes smoothly.
I don't know if it makes any difference, comparing with uploading from the laptop's HD. If anything, it would be faster than using the Phone, but I'm not sure. Like I said, I haven't encounter any unusual slowdowns.

Using a PC with Chrome. Updating item specifics is even challenging. Click do not show again and nothing updates. Remains as recommended specifics suggestion. As far as it goes for these "suggestions" ZIPPO of what has been added would be helpful to majority of buyers. Any listed created in the recent past by sellers would be long put away. It would not be worth a sellers time or patience to dig out to even check if that info is available.

For coins, I write the title, and then it pulls things from the title to put in specifics (when doing this on the eBay website). For instance Ukraine 5 Hryven 2003 Uncirculated will have the specifics Ukraine, 5 Hryven, 2003 and uncirculated. I sometimes add metal composition and that comes up too. But sometimes I check all those off, the suggestions go away, but they don't update. I then see further down where the specifics are it giving me a suggestion there, and I click that to fill it in.
On SixBit I don't bother too much with specifics unless it's required, but eBay's website makes it very easy to pull specifics from the title that it would be foolish to not fill them in if it's just a few clicks and approving suggestions they've already given.
With the photos, I've found a lot of times the pictures have loaded by the time I get to the bottom of creating the listing and am ready to submit, but not always. If I refresh it keeps everything I've filled in but deletes any photos that succeeded in being added (which is usually one photo or the other, but noth both at the same time when I have this problem).
I never do listings with my phone because I have HTML in my descriptions and it's easier to do stuff on a computer. I'm also to some degree visually impaired and can't see the screen on my phone very well, generally I have a phone to make calls. Even with glasses it's hard to read the small print. I look at images of my coins on a big computer screen to see everything because I can't see so well looking at small items in person.

Seriously. It might work. I've been relisting from temporarily closed listings and adding new listings this weekend without trouble.

Figured out the why regarding the item specifics, for anyone else having a similar problem.
It has to do with any specifics the seller creates manually. If the field "was" longer than a certain number of characters (it used to be 120 +-), eBay has blocked anything that overides their new maximum and blocks the update. Either update to as per listing or delete field and the information gets saved. This is why those listings are getting added to update item required/recommended specifics requests.

Whenever I run into photo issues when listing I always save the listing as a draft, and then go back into the listing(draft) and it usually is fine after that. I think its just ebay glitches or overloaded server at the time of uploading causing these issues.
06-02-2025 06:54 AM
The issue I have been having with listing is that after editing pictures it sometimes takes a very long time for the edited photos to be saved - it grinds and grinds and until it is done there is just a blank space where the photo is. If I save as draft before that the save process is complete I lose the editing.
When this happens I open another tab and do another draft and something else for a few minutes until the saving is done. Sometimes it takes a few minutes.

Same problem, but only sometimes. This has been a problem for years...
Edge browser.
Sometimes photos load with no delay, sometimes there are short delays and sometimes there are long delays.
Sometimes it happens with just uploading photos.
But most often it happens after cropping/editing photos, one or more than one of the edited photo results just won't load. It can sometimes take up to 5 minutes for results to appear.
Saving a draft is of no use, since all edits are lost.

I have only been experiencing it the last few weeks, after starting to list for the first time since February. I am using Firefox and Brave browser. Is your reference to Microsoft Edge a suggestion for a browser that will work better or what you are using?

Just did a test with one listing, after photo editing then clicking save, it two 2 minutes 42 seconds to complete saving the edited photos. It is variable, and sometimes it takes much longer - that was as of a couple of days ago when I last did some listing.

I'm trying to do a couple of listings on some new stamps, there's three photos to load, it's not loading any photos at all, I went to refresh after something like 5-10 minutes... I'm attempting for the third time to load photos in this new listing, the first listing I've been able to do tonight, and it's taking forever and the photos still won't load.
This is incredibly frustrating, I haven't had to deal with loading photos on eBay's site before because I've always used SixBit, but on the .ca account I've been doing my listings directly on their site. Usually it's not a big problem, but tonight it's not working out very well.

I've been timing it. After I posted this, I thought "it can't really be taking 10 minutes, I'm just very impatient and 3 minutes feels like a long time". Nope, timing it, 10 minutes, still no photos. I opened a second window and started working on a second listing which has been loading for almost 10 minutes and still no images.
I saved them as drafts and went back in (someine further up on this thread suggested they had less trouble with images if it was a saved draft). Nope, doesn't seem to help. I've now been working on these two listings for 40 minutes, tried refreshing a couple of times, and sometimes it works better if I drag and drop the images rather than browse the computer. Yeah, nothing is helping. What a waste of an evening.
You know so far I've increased my store 50% since I've been shut down (and am still shut down because of the pending strike, my original reason for shutting down was something else, but I've been down since May 26 due to the pending strike and waiting to see what happens so my packages aren't lost in the mail). No one can view any of these extra 50% listings I made because I'm shut down. Would really like to be able to end time away and start selling on this account again.
